Sailor Moon R episodes 57 and 58 are now available on Hulu

Sailor Moon R episode 57 - Natsumi and Usagi in class

The two latest episodes of Sailor Moon R, episode 57 and 58, were added to Hulu and Neon Alley this morning. This week we get a better look at Natsumi and Seijirou as we build up to the end of the Makaiju story arc. These episodes are in Japanese with English subtitles. If dubbed episodes are more up your alley be sure to check out episodes 25 through 36 which were added to Hulu’s Sailor Moon dubbed page for a limited time.

Sailor Moon R episode 57 - An gets a pencil in the nose

Episode 57, After-School Trouble: Usagi Is a Target, gives us a nice and funny look at the relationship between Natsumi and Usagi who are constantly fighting over Mamoru’s love. Both Usagi and Natsumi get in trouble in class and are punished by their unprofessional and spiteful teacher Haruna. She is upset after her date canceled on her and takes it out on her students. While the students are kept after school she receives a call, which is her date who is able to make plans again. Since this was 1993, the pre cell phone era, this call is taken in the office. She then forgets about her students and leaves! Usagi and Natsumi make a little bet over Mamoru, as if such a thing was binding, over who will finish their assignment first. Natsumi ends up with a pencil in the nose but then drains Usagi’s energy so it’s all even. Meanwhile we learn that Ail is not really capable of choosing a Cardian without An. His Cardian won’t listen to him, attacks a bunch of ducks and generally makes a mess for him. Ultimately Usagi and Natsumi get along quite well despite the injuries and we get to see a kinder side to Natsumi than we have in the past.

Sailor Moon R episode 58 - Sailor Moon stage show with Jadeite, Morga, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask and Luna

Episode 58, Disconnecting Love: the Raging Makai Tree, is where things really start to come together. In this episode we see some interesting things. When Usagi, Umino and Naru go to a Sailor Moon show we can see Jadeite, Morga, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask and Luna recreated in large headed costumes. I suppose it makes sense that the public would have this knowledge. Morga was present in a jewellery store full of shoppers in the first episode. Jadeite, despite his many convincing disguises, chose to appear as a large hologram over the city threatening to set it on fire in his final episode. Usagi and her friends head over to visit Natsumi and Seijirou, which leads nosy Usagi to poke around in their secret room which is actually a massive open area housing the Makaiju, Ail and An’s evil energy sucking tree. Or is it? One wonders how many units in this apartment building were cleared out to make room for this humungous tree, or if this room is bigger on the inside like a bag of holding. After bringing back a piece of the tree and having Artemis nearly killed touching it, Usagi knows something is up and must confront Natsumi and Seijirou. She conveniently meets Mamoru on the way so they all have a nice time before Usagi is fed to the Cardian and tree, causing the Makaiju to freak out and wreck up the building. To be continued!

Sailor Moon R episode 58 - Usagi and the Makaiju

Next week is the epic conclusion to the Makaiju story arc as well as the first appearance of Chibiusa.

12 new episodes of the Viz’s new Sailor Moon dub will be released during Moonlight Party 2 Friday November 21st at 7pm Pacific Time

Viz's Sailor Moon - Moonlight Party 2 logo

This coming Friday will be Moonlight Party 2, featuring new Viz dubbed episodes starring Sailor Jupiter and Venus. Once that starts, Friday at 7pm Pacific Time or 10pm Eastern Time, you will be able to view it by following this link. This will include a behind the scenes celebration with Viz as episodes 24 through 36 of the new dubbed episodes are available through Hulu and Neon Alley. Like with the first Moonlight Party in September there will be interaction with fans, contests and a chance to meet some of the voice actors.

Sailor Moon episode 24 - Naru crying

This event will also include watching episodes 24, 25, 33, 34 and 35. The episodes themselves will not be streamed on the YouTube link. Viewers will need to view these directly on the Hulu or Neon Alley sites, which are not available in Canada and other areas. Episode 24, Naru’s Tears: Nephrite Dies for Love, is as the title suggests the tragic death of Nephrite. Episode 25, Jupiter, the Powerful Girl in Love, is the introduction of Sailor Jupiter. We then skip over the other six Rainbow Crystals to episodes 33 through 35 which cover a short story arc which includes the introduction of Sailor Venus in Enter Venus, the Last Sailor Guardian, the revelation of the Moon Princess in The Shining Silver Crystal: The Moon Princess Appears and the aftermath of that in Returning Memories: Usagi and Mamoru’s Past.

Building up to this event Viz has released a couple of new clips from the upcoming second half of season 1 featuring the voices of Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus who did not appears in previously released episodes.

Sailor Moon episode 25 - Makoto Kino

Here are a couple of clips of Sailor Jupiter from her first episode, Jupiter, the Powerful Girl in Love. In the first clip Makoto and Usagi talk over lunch for the first time and in the second we see her learning that she is Sailor Jupiter and her first transformation. Sailor Jupiter is voiced by Amanda Celine Miller.

Shortly before this clip was released Amanda Celine Miller joked on twitter that the inspiration for her Sailor Jupiter voice came from Harvey Firestein.

Sailor Moon episode 36 - Minako does Usagi's hair

Two clips of Minako were also released. The first features Minako trying to cheer up Usagi while doing her hair in episode 36, Usagi’s Confusion: Is Tuxedo Mask Evil?. The second clip shows the Princess Seminar from episode 37, Let’s Become a Princess: Usagi’s Bizarre Training, which is really not a Sailor Venus centric clip but in it she does her Crescent Beam attack. Sailor Venus is voiced by Cherami Leigh.

In that second clip we hear a grunt by the new voice of Artemis, Johnny Yong Bosch, whose voice will be heard for the first time during the new episode we’ll see tomorrow.

Sailor Moon episode 37 - Artemis is Luna's contact

This event is publicity for the DVD and Blu-Ray set of season 1 part 2 which will be released in February 2015. Season 1 part 1 was released last week. The dubbed season 1 part 1 is also available on Amazon Instant along with the first season and a half of subbed episodes.

Sailor Moon R episodes 55 and 56 are now available on Hulu

Sailor Moon R episode 55 - Ami and Luna shield themselves as Usagi eats

The latest two episodes of Sailor Moon R are now available on Hulu and Neon Alley. As with every Monday, two new episodes in Japanese with English subtitles by Viz, were added to these streaming services. This week’s episodes, 55 and 56, are full of great comedic moments.

Sailor Moon R episode 55 - Makoto and Seijirou

Episode 55, Is Seijuro the Moonlight Knight? Mako On Fire, is all about food! There is a secondary plot where we investigate if Seijirou is the Moonlight Knight, but Sailor Mercury quickly determines that this is untrue. There are many food related plots going around. Usagi has no food, and goes from friend to friend trying to eat something. She finally ends up pigging out on some food in front of Ami and Luna. Makoto, in the meantime, is educating Seijirou about food. He’s new to food because he’s an alien and doesn’t need to eat anything but energy. This of course makes Natsumi very jealous which prompts a fight with a monster.

Sailor Moon R episode 56 - Rei is jealous of Makoto's breasts

Episode 56, Steal a Kiss from Mamoru! An’s Project Snow White, has Mamoru stuck putting on a presentation of Snow White. This gets everyone fighting about who should be Snow White! Makoto suggests it should be her, because her breasts are largest! Ultimately Natsumi cheats her way into the part leaving Usagi to be the evil Queen and the rest of the Sailor Guardians, Naru and Umino as dwarves. Of course dwarf costumes are hard to come by so they instead end up in animal costumes! The whole time Natsumi has a sinister plot to steal a kiss from Mamoru, and it almost works twice, but Seijirou, in his jealousy, disrupts the play with your weekly Cardian attack.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10, Moon, Review

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Jadeite with a cape and sword

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10, Moon, was released November 15th on Crunchyroll,
Hulu and Niconico at 7pm Japan Standard Time. The episode was available an hour early to fans who observe daylight savings time due to the fact that the Japanese don’t roll back their clocks. This will be the same for the next 6 months worth of episodes. Lots happens this week as the Sailor Guardians go to the Moon to learn about their past!

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Kenji Papa's classic "upset that Usagi has a boyfriend" face

The episode starts out with a fun scene of Usagi and her family at home. This lets us see Kenji Papa doing his oh so famous “What? You have a BOYFRIEND?!” face. The original manga chapter of this story has Shingo and Usagi playing with a game system which appears to be a Super Famicom (Japanese Super Nintendo), which would fit with the technology of the time. What is this updated to in 2014? Shingo is playing with what appears to be an original model Gameboy Advance, released in Japan in March of 2001. This seems seriously dated as the GBA SP was released in 2003 and the next generation Nintendo DS was released nearly 10 years ago in 2004. The style choice may have been made because the Gameboy Advance form factor is more generic, vaguely resembling the PSP or or less so the Vite, Wonderswan or Sega Game Gear. Do kids these days even think this thing looks like a game system?

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Usagi and Shingo playing Gameboy Advance

The girls go to the Moon and this is decently done, but I took a few astronomical issues with how this was portrayed which I will touch on at the end of the post for those who are interested. Once on the Moon there is a sword set in stone, which is called various things including the Holy Sword or the Sword of the Silver Crystal. Venus is the only one that is able to pull it, though the other girls working together were able to budge it. This sword is seen as the T in the word Crystal in the show’s logo, so it’s no big surprise when we see it.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Sailor Venus and her sword

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal logo

Queen Serenity appears as a computer simulation recreated from her memories. This sets the technological level of Silver Millennium well past that of Earth in 2014, let alone 1992 or the ancient past when all this occurred. We’re nowhere close to the kind of whole brain emulation or mind uploading that would be required to do something like this. Sailor Moon’s attacks and transformation always seem like magic but an advanced civilization like this would be capable of machine level super intelligence so advanced that such things may very well be possible through technological progress rather than anything mystical, but that’s hardly hinted at in the rest of the series. It would be more internally consistent to assume that their magical abilities helped them achieve technological progress, or that the simulation is a mix of both.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Queen Serenity talking to her daughter Sailor Moon

We learn about the tragic events on the Moon. Endymion was killed and so Serenity, in grief, took her own life. In the manga it appears that the sword Sailor Moon uses on herself is the one Sailor Venus later removes from the stone. Sailor Moon Crystal clearly shows her using Endymion’s sword for this.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Princess Serenity taking her own life with Prince Endymion's sword

The biggest deal with this episode are the Shitennou couplings! We knew we kept them all around for a reason. Kunzite snoops on Beryl and Metalia much as he did in the Manga however this time he has Jadeite, Nephrite and Zoisite with him. Venus has full memories of them in the past, when they all had capes like Kunzite’s, and the Sailor Guardians went to Earth to fall in love with them. This was never shown in the manga, except in a single image. The couplings are consistent with that image as Sailor Mercury is in love with Zoisite, Sailor Mars is in love with Jadeite, Sailor Jupiter is in love with Nephrite and Sailor Venus is in love with Kunzite. Sailor Venus and Kunzite’s relationship is hinted at in both the Sailor Moon and Sailor V manga.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Nephrite with a cape

A new attack is used as the Sailor Guardians use their Sailor Planet Attack. Kunzite is meant to be killed at this point, but we didn’t keep the rest of the Shitennou around just to have them killed off now! They will be alive for some new scenes in coming episodes!

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Sailor Planet Attack

Queen Beryl revives Tuxedo Mask who is now under her control. She is clearly in love with him and in order to keep other girls from stealing him away she dresses him up in the most ridiculously terrible beige sweater. This hurts my brain less than the checker pattern Endo wears in the manga, but it is considerably less stylish. This is something an 80 year old might decide to wear, which isn’t too far off considering just how old Mamoru is if his reincarnation is considered.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Endo has a terrible sweater

Update: Alita from the Facebook page has pointed out that this is a common sweater type that is worn with a school uniform in Japan. I had no idea this Mr. Rogers style was so common but it is. I always appreciate it when readers who are more familiar with Japanese culture than me for point things like this out.

Mr. Rogers sweater

Next time in Act 11, Reunion – Endymion, Tuxedo Mask is evil. He’s about town with mixed memories calling himself Endo, a short form of Endymion. This episode will not be available until December 6th which is three weeks from now, since Sailor Moon Crystal is only released on the first and third Saturday of every month. Hang in there Sailor Moon fans!

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 11 Preview - Usagi sees Endo

Now, on to the somewhat nitpick astronomical issues I took with this episode. I am not trying to point these out in an attempt to mock the show, but in the interest of education for those who may be interested. It is mentioned that they travel to the Earth during a full Moon. Knowing the phase of the Moon tells us a lot about what we should expect to see as far as illumination of the Earth goes. Ami mentions that the Moon is right above them, indicating it is roughly the middle of the night at the time, and that the Sun is pretty much on the complete other side of the Earth. While they are flying from the Earth to the Moon, located somewhere between the two, they gaze back at the Earth and it is more than half illuminated by the Sun. This is not possible while the Moon is full. For the Sun to fully illuminate the Moon, almost none of the Earth would be illuminated from the vantage point of the Moon or somewhere in between. The Earth should actually appear like a New Moon, with just a sliver of illumination at most.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - The Earth should not be more than half lit when the Moon is full and the observer us between the two

Luna mentions that they are traveling to the Sea of Serenity also known as “Mare Serenitatis”. This is located on the surface of the Moon far from the edges, as seen from the Earth. If you find the rabbit on the Moon, it’s near the ball that makes up the body. When landing in this area the Earth should be seen high in the sky, however the Earth is seen in the horizon from this vantage point. Because the Moon is tidally locked to the Earth, the same part is always facing us which means that from the Moon the Earth would always occupy roughly the same spot in the sky, and unless you are located on what we see as the edges of the Moon, the Earth would never be anywhere near the horizon.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - The Earth is too low in the sky for where they should be on the Moon and if the Sun was obscured like this there would be a partial lunar eclipse

Finally as they are leaving Luna mentions that the Sun is about to rise on Earth. We see the Earth with the Sun completely covered, only starting to appear from behind it. This would be a rare astronomical event which we on Earth would observe as a full or partial Lunar eclipse, as can be seen in this post I made about the recent Lunar eclipse. If the Sun, as seen from the Moon, is obscured by the Earth that means the Earth is casting it’s shadow on the Moon. Surely this happens during a full Moon, but no ellipse was mentioned as happening during the episode. It should also be mentioned that were the Sun actually behind the Earth as is seen here an observer would not be able to see any details on the surface, as it would not be illuminated at all.

Keep reading for more screenshots from this week’s episode and the next episode preview for Act 11, Reunion – Endymion.

Set you alarm extra early because Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10, Moon, will be available at 5am Eastern Time November 15th

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Queen Serenity

Good news and bad news! Japan does not observe daylight savings time. When many of us rolled our clocks back a couple of weeks ago, our good friends in Japan did not do the same. What does this mean for us Sailor Moon Crystal fans? Some of us will get the next episode one full hour earlier than we’re used to. 7pm Japan standard time this coming Saturday, November 15th, will actually be 5am Eastern Time and 2am Pacific time for North Americans on the east and west coast who observe DST. If you’re one of those lucky fans who don’t observe daylight savings or don’t know what it is, don’t panic. Sailor Moon Crystal will air when you expect it to. Not 100% sure at what time 7pm JST is where you live? Crunchyroll’s countdown timer is a good indicator of exactly how much time is left until the episode will be available to stream. As with all new episode, you can also watch it on Hulu and Niconico.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Moon

This week is episode 10, Moon, and like the title suggests the gang is going to the Moon! Luna thinks this is where all the answers will be and she’s right. A computer simulation of Queen Serenity is waiting to reveal all the truths about the tragedies of Silver Millennium and we should also be seeing Sailor Venus getting the sword which is featured so prominently in the Sailor Moon Crystal logo. The sword can be seen in Sailor Venus’s hand in the screenshot below.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - The Sailor Guardians in Silver Millennium

The manga version of this story featured Usagi and Shingo playing an old game system, something like a Super Famicom. Will this be included and updated for this show?

The first half of Sailor Moon R, including the previously unreleased episode 67, are now available for digital download

Sailor Moon R Digital Download cover art

While the first half of the first season of Sailor Moon is available to buy today on Blu-Ray and DVD the first half of Sailor Moon R is now available in Japanese with English subtitles in digital download from Amazon Instant and Xbox Video. We previously only posted about the first half of season 1 being available digitally but while I wasn’t paying attention not only was the second half released, but now the first half of the second season, Sailor Moon R, is available as well. Some other distributers such as iTunes and the PlayStation Store only have the full first season available at this time.

Sailor Moon R episode 67 - Chibiusa riding Kirin

These episodes include the never before released Sailor Moon R episode 67, The Beach, the Island and a Vacation: The Guardians’ Break. This episode was never dubbed into English and, when ADV released their completely terrible “Uncut” Season 2 they very deceptively excluded this episode. They even split the season into two parts before and after this episode so that you needed to pay attention to notice that the set included episode 47 to 66 and then 68 to 89. The episode is not terribly relevant to the rest of the season as it features Chibiusa getting upset at her friends due to a limited menu selection, getting lost at sea and befriending what appears to be a Plesiosaur which is impressive given the fact that they went extinct along with 3/4 of the Earth’s plants and animals some 65 million years ago. Chibiusa, who is herself living in the wrong time, doesn’t seem to be bothered by the appearance of a living dinosaur and calls it Kirin, which means giraffe, due to it’s long neck.

ADV uncut Sailor Moon R excludes episode 67

ADV doesn’t know what uncut means

The final episode in this chunk is episode 68 – Protect Chibi-Usa: Clash of the Ten Warriors. This covers 22 of the 44 episodes of Sailor Moon R, exactly half of the season.

Sailor Moon R episodes 53 and 54 are now available on Hulu

Sailor Moon R episode 53 - Usagi stealing Manami's bottle

The two latest episodes of Sailor Moon R are now available on Hulu and Neon Alley. Every Monday two new episodes in Japanese with English subtitles by Viz are added to these streaming services. This week we have episodes 53 and 54 which focus on Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars.

Sailor Moon R episode 53 - Manami peeing in Natsumi's face

Episode 53, Mamoru and Usagi’s Babysitting Mayhem, is technically a Sailor Mercury episode in that she gets a new attack but it’s not really about her. Ail and An have a Cardian that attacks babies, because the one that attacked children from last week wasn’t bad enough. I know we eventually find out that vampire tree isn’t really evil, but these Cardians are just jerks. Baby Manami’s mother is hospitalized while protecting her son and the completely irresponsible and unprofessional hospital choses to entrust the safety of the baby to Mamoru, who is a complete and total stranger. Oh but Mamoru must have known the baby a little, right? Not at all. Mamoru and Usagi are so unfamiliar with this baby that they are actually surprised to learn that Manami is a boy when they see his penis! Manami’s penis eventually proceeds to urinate all over Natsumi’s face when she drops by to visit. Usagi and Mamoru’s relationship strengthens throughout this episode as they care for Manami together, witnessing both his first steps and first words! This is in sharp contrast to their relationship with their future child who’s already very capable of walking and talking when they first encounter her! It doesn’t really matter that Usagi and Mamoru’s relationship improves throughout this episode as that will all become irrelevant when his memories return anyway, but it seems like progress. Ami’s involvement is pretty loose, but she gets mad at the Cardian and uses a Shabon Spray Freezing attack.

Sailor Moon R episode 54 - Usagi and Rei tolerating each other for a change

Episode 54, The School Festival Is for Me?! Queen Rei’s Song, is a legit Sailor Mars episode. There’s a festival at Rei’s school which she is super controlling and bossy about. Rei works really hard to write songs she will perform at the festival, which goes super well until it is attacked by a monster. Rei gets all upset and uses a new attack, Fire Soul Bird. Also at the festival are Natsumi and Seijuro’s fashion show where they dress in all sorts of strange costumes. They do this for completely selfish reasons as it builds up the crowd’s energy level, which they drain to feed their vampire of a tree. As the episode closes Rei and Usagi share a brief pleasant moment with each other which is quite nice.

Sailor Moon R episode 54 - Natsumi and Seijuro dressed as squids

Rei performs the song Eien no Melody (Eternal Melody) in this episode, which was translated into English in the DiC version as Oh Starry Night.

Chibiusa and the Black Moon Clan join Sailor Moon Crystal’s second season starting January 17th 2015

Sailor Moon Crystal Season 2 Featuring Sailor Chibi Moon

New art has been added to the Sailor Moon official site showing Sailor Chibi Moon. At this weekend’s Animate Girl’s Festival in Japan the cast of Sailor Moon revealed art for the second season of Sailor Moon Crystal which will feature the Black Moon Clan and Sailor Chibi Moon. Though the art shows the transformed Sailor Guardian Sailor Chibi Moon in reality Chibiusa will appear at the beginning of the season, only transforming into Sailor Chibi Moon towards the end of the Black Moon arc. This is in contrast to the anime where Chibiusa did not transform until Sailor Moon S. On January 17th we’ll wrap up the Dark Kingdom arc and kick off the Black Moon clan arc with Act 14, An Ending and Then a Beginning – Petite Etrangère.

Sailor Moon Crystal schedule - French

A photo was added to the Sailor Moon Central Facebook page outlining the upcoming episode schedule. The schedule is in French but titles correspond to the Japanese titles from the manga. Until now all episodes, including next week’s, correspond to original Manga chapters. Some acts listed here do not correspond to original manga chapters however they share titles with the chapters listed for the manga rerelease from 2003 in Japan and 2011 in North America. By going along with the manga rerelease chapter names this means that the first two story arcs will span 26 episodes rather than the original 23 acts that the original manga spanned. This means we will not be seeing Sailor Uranus and Neptune as part of the 26 episodes which are set to be released as part of Sailor Moon Crystal’s first year run. No episodes beyond 26 have yet been announced.

The anime referred to the second season as “Sailor Moon R” but no specific subtitle for this arc has been listed.

Sailor Mars Pullip Doll announced

Sailor Mars Pullip Doll

The latest Sailor Moon Pullip doll has been announced. Next in this line of dolls is Sailor Mars! Previously released were Sailor Moon, Mercury and Venus and Princess Serenity. Sailor Mercury and Venus both included civilian school uniforms as their Bandai exclusive bonus. No specifics have been announced about Sailor Mars but it would make sense that she would also come with a school uniform when ordered from Premium Bandai. Sailor Moon came with Luna but as Sailor Venus did not come with Artemis it seems unlikely that Phobos and Deimos will be included as exclusive bonuses.

Pullip dolls are high quality very expensive dolls with disproportionally large heads and eyes. Though there is no specific release date or price noted at this time, it can be expected to sell for $150 for the regular version and $180 for the Premium Bandai exclusive version.

Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Chibi Moon S. H. Figuarts, Sailor Moon Crystal Figuarts Zero and more figures revealed at Tamashi Nations 2014

Sailor Chibi Moon S. H. Figuarts

A ton of new Sailor Moon figures were revealed at this past weekend’s Tamashii Nations 2014 event in Tokyo. We have Sailor Chibi Moon and Tuxedo Mask S. H. Figuarts figures, a new line of Figuarts Zero figures in a Sailor Moon Crystal style and super deformed Tamashii Buddies for the main five Sailor Guardians.

Original anime colour Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask S. H. Figuarts figures

We already knew we were expecting to see a Tuxedo Mask S. H. Figuarts figure so that was no real surprise, but Sailor Chibi Moon was news! Also on display is the original anime colours Sailor Moon. The S. H. Figuarts Sailor Moon figure had a slightly different colour palette, including a more pink colour than her original red, but this one is more what fans of the 1992 Sailor Moon anime are used to. S. H. Figuarts figures are high quality highly posable figures. These new S. H. Figuarts figures will likely cost about the same as the other ones that have been released, about $40 to $50 US. What kind of accessories will be included with these figures? We can only speculate, so here we go. The Tuxedo Mask shown has neither a cape or a rose, which would be obvious additions. Sailor Chibi Moon may include her Pink Moon Stick and Luna P. Sailor Pluto remains the only Sailor Guardian not to get an S. H. Figuarts figure as we’re now moving on to other characters. Should we expect to get Chibi Chibi, Ikuko Mama, Shingo and Red Buttler S. H. Figuarts before we see her?

Sailor Moon Crystal Sailor Moon Figuarts Zero

The other big revelation was the new line of Sailor Moon Crystal Figuarts Zero figures. The original Sailor Moon Figuarts Zero line is from Sailor Moon R but these ones are from the new Sailor Moon anime, Sailor Moon Crystal, and have a whole other level of detail to them. I wasn’t terribly impressed with what the Sailor Moon R Figuarts Zero figures had to offer at their price point, but I find these new ones to be quite nice. The Figuarts Zero line are not posable. They are stationary small statuettes. If pricing is similar to the other Sailor Moon Figuarts Zero figures they should cost somewhere in the range of $80 to $90 US.

Sailor Moon Crystal Sailor Mercury Figuarts Zero

Also revealed were more Tamashii Buddies, small non posable super deformed figures. These tiny figures are just 9 cm tall, about 3.5″. Announced to date are Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus. Though no prices are given these slightly more affordable figures tend to sell for about $15 US.
