These new Sailor Moon key chains are set to go on sale in June, which is pretty much done, so we can expect to see them any day now I suppose. These are capsule toys sold in vending machines which are known in Japan as Gashapon. These tiny keychains are only about 1.5 inches in height. They’re priced at 1000 yen, about $10 US. They are available for pre-order from this link.
The keychains include the main 5 girls, Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus as well as a Luna and Artemis set.
Here’s a trailer for a new movie Roommate, starring Keiko Kitagawa, Sailor Mars from the live action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series.
The movie will be released on November 9th in Japan. The trailer doesn’t really tell us much but the story it would seem has Keiko’s character, Harumi, getting into an accident and befriending a nurse, Reiko (Mars Reiko?), played by Kyoko Fukada. The two decide to be roommates and high jinx ensues!
If you have one of the more popular cell phone models you’re in luck. The official Sailor Moon site has announced that Bandai is releasing relatively inexpensive cell phone cases and stickers in Japan. The most recently announced items are a series of nine cell phone case designs for the iPhone (4, 4S and 5), Xperia (Z and A) and Galaxy (SIII and S4). You can buy them from the Bandai Premium site. There are a wide variety of designs available, each priced at 2,100 yen, which is about $21 US.
In addition to these cases some cell phone stickers were announced a short while back. There are a privacy protector and sticker case for the iPhone 5 and some smaller stickers which could be placed on virtually any cell phone. These items are available for pre-order from CD Japan. You can access these from the following links: Sticker case, privacy protector, group sticker, Sailor Moon sticker and Crystal Star Brooch sticker. They are priced anywhere from about $4 to $7 US.
Legendary anime voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi will be a guest of honor at Anime Revolution in Vancouver August 16th to the 18th. Kappei Yamaguchi provided the voice of Artemis in the live action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series. He has also provided voices for many iconic anime characters such as Inuyasha and Ranma.
Kappei Yamaguchi joins Sailor Moon voice actor Toru Furuya, Tuxedo Mask from the anime series, who was previously announced as a guest.
Susan Roman, the voice of Sailor Jupiter from the English dub of the original Sailor Moon Anime, will be joining Stephanie Morgenstern at the 2nd Unplugged Expo which will be taking place October 26th and 27th at the Daniels Spectrum Centre in downtown Toronto. This was announced by Susan Roman in the following video:
She concludes by saying “maybe the other Sailor Scouts will be there to say hi too”. Unplugged Expo is trying to get as many of the Canadian voice actors from Sailor Moon together for this convention as possible. Let’s hope there are more announcements to come! Stay up to date by following the Unplugged Expo Facebook page.
This will mark Susan Roman’s third Toronto convention appearance this year after attending Anime North last month and the upcoming Fan Expo in August. It’s a great time to be a Sailor Moon fan in Toronto! (or a Sailor Moon fan in Ottawa who doesn’t mind putting mileage on his car)
Today and today only this “Silver Aged Scouts” shirt is available for just $10 at ShirtPunch. The shirt features Sailor Moon and the rest of the main group of Sailor Soldiers inside the iconic Looney Tunes logo.
With all of these products coming out soon Sailor Moon fans are all wondering what options they have for purchasing these items in North America. Luckily between online stores YesAsia and J-List a lot of these products are currently up for pre-order.
None of these stores are affiliated with ours so we make no guarantees but they are well established online stores that have been operating for years. Since these are import toys you will notice that you are paying a premium price for being able to order any of these.
Toru Furuya, the original Japanese voice of Tuxedo Mask from the Sailor Moon anime, will be making an appearance at the Anime Revolution anime convention in Vancouver August 16th to the 18th 2013.
Toru Furuya not only provided the voice of Tuxedo Mask as well as many other anime characters but he is also slated to reprise his role in the new Sailor Moon anime which was originally scheduled to be released this summer. He will be the guest of honour at the Anime Revolution convention, which last year played host to a number of Sailor Moon voice actors from the English dub in their celebration of the 20th Anniversary.
Fan Expo is a huge convention which includes an Anime stream amongst many others. Unfortunately at least year’s convention the Sailor Moon guests in attendance were not involved in any panels, but with this reunion going on there will hopefully be more Sailor Moon related events for fans eager to meet their favourite voice actors.
The wall scroll is 51.5×72.8cm (about 20×29″) and is priced at 3150 yen ($33 US). The microfibre mini towel is tiny at 20x20cm (only 8×8″) and sells for 600 yen ($6.30) so don’t expect to be bringing this towel to the beach. Both the wall scroll and towel will be released in July.
The rings are most interesting. They are not toys but real jewellery designed after Sailor Moon’s Crisis Moon Compact which she uses to transform into Super Sailor Moon. Both are made of silver and the gold coloured ring is actually coated in 18k gold. The gem is a pink Swarovski crystal (Swarovski is a brand, not a type of gem) though I understand it lacks any magical properties. The rings are priced at 15,750 yen which is about $166 US. This item will be on sale in August.
