Watch the Sailor Moon: The Power of Female Friendship panel today at Comic-Con@Home

Comic-Con @ Home

This afternoon, July 25th 2020, at 3pm Pacific Time (6pm Eastern Time) fans will be able to watch a virtual Sailor Moon Panel, Sailor Moon: The Power of Female Friendship, live on YouTube. This is part of San-Diego Comic-Con’s virtual convention which is being held this year instead of a live convention which would be impossible due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The panel will be hosted by comic book historian Jessica Tseang and includes voice actors from Viz’s new dub of Sailor Moon including Michelle Ruff, the voice of Luna, Kate Higgins, the voice of Sailor Mercury, Amanda Celine Miller, the voice of Sailor Jupiter, as well as comic book writer Sam Maggs, and comedian Chris Bryant.

To view the panel head over the Comic-Con site or watch it directly on YouTube (the video will likely be unavailable until shortly before the event starts). It seems like other panels remain available after the original live broadcast so fans who aren’t able to watch the panel live or are seeing this post too late should still be okay to watch it.

Will you be checking out the panel? For those reading this in the future, did you watch the panel and what did you think?

Chris Niosi will voice Pegasus in the new dub of Sailor Moon SuperS

Chris Niosi as Pegasus in Sailor Moon SuperS

This past weekend was San Diego Comic-Con and, as is the case with many conventions which Viz Media attends, there was a Moon Panel. We didn’t get much in the way of new information at this panel but we did learn that the new voice of Pegasus from Viz’s new dub of Sailor Moon SuperS will be Chris Niosi. Chris Niosi is not only a voice actor but he has also done a great deal of fan and professional animation work. Check out his web site or Twitter feed for more of his stuff. Though nothing about Sailor Moon Crystal was mentioned, with the two movies which will cover the Dream arc having been announced in Japan, it seems only logical that Chris would also provide the voice for Pegasus and Helios once those films are released and ultimately dubbed for North American release.

Mike Daniels of the Green Bay Packers

Also of note at the Moon Panel at Comic-Con was an appearance by Mike Daniels, a football player fro the Green Bay Packers. He attended the panel and then posed for photos with some of the staff.

The S. H. Figuarts “Impostor Version” of Zoisite dressed as Sailor Moon will be a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive

Zoisite as impostor Sailor Moon - S. H. Figuarts - SDCC Exclusive

A while back we got a look at an odd choice for a Sailor Moon S. H. Figuarts figure with Zoisite dressed as Sailor Moon from episode 33 of the original Sailor Moon anime. This figure, with slightly different colours, a boomerang and a mean looking face, was Zoisite’s trap to lure in Tuxedo Mask. We have now learned, via the Sailor Moon official site, that this figure is a San Diego Comic-con exclusive. The figure is referred to in Japanese as “Nise Sailor Moon” which means a fake or imitation Sailor Moon. Like with other high quality Figuarts figures it comes with a number of replacement pieces and even a custom Luna with weird surprised eyes.

Pictures of the packaging also surfaced and have been included above. San Diego Comic-con will be held next weekend, July 8th to the 12th, where the figure will sell for $45. A limited number of these figures will be sold via lottery in Japan as well. There has not been any mention of this figure’s availability following the convention. Are any of you attending San Diego Comic-con this year? If so, please drop me a line if you’re able to pick me up a figure and I’ll be sure to compensate you for any costs.

Listen to a bunch of new clips from Viz’s new Sailor Moon dub

Cricket Brown as Haruna having her skirt flipped by Umino

We’ve got four new dub clips to share from Viz’s new Sailor Moon dub. The first, uploaded to YouTube last week, is an exchange between Jadeite and Queen Beryl from episode 5, Scent of a Monster: Chanela Will Steal Your Love.

Two more clips have been added to Hulu’s Sailor Moon page. The first clip has Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars fighting Jadeite in episode 13, Girls Unite: The End of Jadeite. The next clip is an extension of the clip we already saw between Luna and Sailor Moon from the first episode, but this time includes her transformation and a short clip of Naru’s voice.

Finally we have more leaked footage, this time from San Diego Comic-Con. This fooage includes Umino from episode 2, Punishment Awaits: The House Of Fortune Is The Monster Mansion, acting evil under the influence of the fortune teller’s cards and interacting with Usagi, Naru and Haruna. We also see Usagi’s first meetings with Ami from episode 8, The Girl Genius Is a Monster: The Brainwashing Cram School of Horror, and with Rei from episode 9, The Cursed Bus: Enter Mars, the Guardian of Fire Several.

In these clips we hear the voices of Stephanie Sheh as Sailor Moon, Kate Higgins as Sailor Mercury, Cristina Vee as Sailor Mars, Michelle Ruff as Luna, Cindy Robinson as Queen Beryl, Todd Haberkorn as Jadeite, Ben Diskin as Umino and Danielle Nicole as Naru. Cricket Brown will be playing Haruna. This actress had not been announced previously. The actor voicing Rei’s grandpa is still unknown. Check out this link to see the rest of the cast.

The new Sailor Moon dub will be included on the upcoming DVD and Blu-Ray release coming November 11th. You can pre-order it from Amazon using the link below.

Bandai’s S. H. Figuarts Sailor Jupiter prototype revealed at SDCC 2013

Bandai's Sailor Jupiter S. H. Figuarts figure at SDCC 2013

Sailor Jupiter is joining the ranks of Sailor Moon, Mercury and Mars with a great looking S. H. Figuarts figure by Bandai. This picture was taken at San Diego Comic-Con. Once again like with the other figures we’re just looking at a prototype right now. It doesn’t have any colour yet but the final figure will. We can only assume that the price point for this figure will be comparable to the others in the line. Both Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury are currently listed on Amazon for $42.

Bandai’s line of S. H. Figuarts figures are highly detailed and posable figures with many swappable parts. It seems likely at this point that a Sailor Venus figure won’t be far behind. Who will come after that? We can only speculate!

SDCC 2011: Olivia Munn Cosplays as Sailor Moon

Olivia Munn Cosplaying as Sailor Moon at SDCC 2011

Cosplay is a big part of conventions and no one loves dressing up more than former Attack of the Show host Olivia Munn. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con she dressed as Sailor Moon. Of course just dressing in a sexy Sailor Moon costume wasn’t quite enough for Olivia Munn, so she went on to post a photo of herself, half dressed, getting into her costume on twitter.

This wasn’t the first time Olivia wore this particular costume. Back in October 2008 she wore it on a Halloween episode of Attack of the Show while Kevin Pereira, dressed as Billy Mays, pretended to violate her. Does anyone ship these two?
