There are some great looking new Sailor Moon figures on their way from MegaHouse. These super deformed or “chibi” style figures come in a total of 14 designs, showing 8 characters. How does that work? Well the series includes two versions each of Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Tuxedo Mask as well as lucky items of Luna and Artemis. It may appear that there are duplicate figures but in reality there are simply variations in the winking faces of the various Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask has a variant without his mask. The toys are 6 to 9 cm tall (about 2.4″ to 3.5″) and are set to hit store shelves in Japan this winter. They are 700 yen each, about $7 US, though they are likely to be sold as a set.

Pre-order Bandai’s Sailor Mars S. H. Figuarts figure
The pre-order for Bandai’s Sailor Mars S. H. Figuarts figure has been available on Amazon for a few weeks now but I didn’t get a chance to post about it but that’s okay because it’s a pre-order! The figure won’t be released in North American until January 15th. You can get the figure a bit earlier if you import it from Japan but be prepared to pay for it in shipping! The figure is out on December 31st in Japan so you won’t be getting it that much sooner, as compared to other figures. You can pre-order it from sites like JList, CD Japan, YesAsia or Amazon Japan.
Can’t wait to get a figure? The Sailor Moon figure is actually out and you can get it now from Amazon! It’s been out for a while in Japan and has just been released in North America. Many fans have already gotten their figures (mine is still in the mail) but if you didn’t pre-order it you can order it now and it will ship right away. Sailor Mercury is also available for pre-order from Amazon for a December 15th release date. If you’re impatient you can import the toy from sites like CD Japan or Amazon Japan and it will ship on October 31st.
We also now finally have colour pictures of the Sailor Venus figure, previously seen only as a prototype, and the Sailor Jupiter figure which we hadn’t seen before. Check out this group shot from the S. H. Figuarts Sailor Moon site.
As always the Amazon links can be found on the widget on the left sidebar of the main page. If you order products through links from this site to Amazon.com we receive a small commission. Thank you for your support. We do not have affiliate programs set up with any other retailers mentioned in this post. Some links to online retailers were gathered thanks to Moonkitty.net.
New Moon Stick toy coming soon from Tamashii Nations
A post was made this morning to Moonkitty’s Facebook page stating that a new Moon Stick was spotted at the Sailor Moon La Reconquista musical which is currently playing in Japan. It was clear that no photographs are allowed. Is a video a photograph? Because someone got a video! Check that out!
The case has the Tamashii Nations logo on it, so it stands to reason that they will be releasing the toy. The design of this Moon Stick seems consistent with that of the original toy from the 1992 anime meaning that this is either yet another toy for the original anime or, assuming it’s something from the new 2014 Sailor Moon anime, this would indicate that the design of the Moon Stick will be unchanged. I’d be inclined to say it’s more likely just based on the original design.
Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter Legend Studio figure prototypes
A few weeks ago we had our first look at the Sailor Moon prototype for Legend Studio’s line of figures at the ACG HK 2013 convention. Sailor Mars and Jupiter’s prototype figures, seen in this picutre, were unveiled the next day. I had no idea this had occurred until I read about it on Sailor Moon Collectibles yesterday. This image comes from this Chinese page on the Japanese Geocities. That’s right, in Japan Geocities is still a thing.
We also now have a better look at the Sailor Moon figure in colour courtesy of NextMedia. We previously saw what this figure looked like from a photo of a standee but now we have a photo of the actual figure.
Bandai’s Sailor Moon S. H. Figuarts figure is now out in Japan!
Bandai’s S. H. Figuarts Sailor Moon figure has hit stores in Japan. A few people have already gotten their hands on the figure and so there are a lot of pictures of it surfacing online. We’ve got a look at some of the packaging and all the individual pieces as well as a ton of other photos on this Japanese blog post.
As we had previously seen there are a lot of different swappable faces. Here is a good look at all six of them.
Download the August 4th Sailor Moon Niconico live event
If you don’t speak Japanese and didn’t get up at 4am on Sunday to watch the Sailor Moon event that was streamed on the Niconico web site you can now check it out. Miss Dream has fan subbed the event and made it available for all to download! There is a direct download and torrent on the site.
This event lasted roughly 90 minutes and mostly centered around information about the new musical Sailor Moon La Reconquista. There was also a quick look at some of the upcoming merchandise, a performance of Moonlight Densetsu by Momoiro Clover Z and a very small amount of information about the new anime, which we covered in a post that went online on Sunday.
Thanks to the staff at the Miss Dream web site for getting this translated so quickly!
The new Sailor Moon anime will begin airing this winter on Niconico
The Sailor Moon live event is now over. We didn’t learn a ton but it was mentioned that the new Sailor Moon anime would begin airing this winter. It was also mentioned that it would be streaming on Niconico, a Japanese streaming video service. Fumio Osano was in attendance but didn’t have much to tell us. Not much else was learned aside from it being based on the old anime but not being a remake, which is fairly vague.
The event began with a look at various products we’d already talked about on this site. It then included an introduction to certain cast members of the new musical, Sailor Moon La Reconquista. In attendance were Sailor Moon, Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus as well as all four of the Shitennou. Finally a performance of Moonlight Densetsu was done by Momoiro Clover Z who were confirmed to be doing the theme song for the new anime, which is information we already had. Also unchanged was the quality of Momoiro Clover Z’s performance.
The event closed with a fairly anticlimactic Q&A. The reaction of the sleep deprived fan base seems to be mostly disappointment at this early hour. It’s safe to say everyone was hoping for a bit more information about the anime. Be patient Moonies! Winter is coming. Now go home and go to bed.
Bandai’s Sailor Mars S. H. Figuarts figure in colour
The colour version of Bandai’s S. H. Figuarts figure was unveiled last weekend at Wonder Festival 2013. We don’t really have more details about this figure at this point but the price should be similar to the Sailor Moon and Mercury figures which we already know more about.

New Sailor Moon R Figuarts ZERO figure
Here’s yet another Sailor Moon figure that was spotted at Wonder Festival 2013 Summer held this weekend in Chiba, Japan! This is from Bandai and Volks’s Figuarts ZERO line of figures. These are not posable like the S. H. Figuarts line but rather single piece immoveable figures. These are very detailed high quality figures. Here we see Sailor Moon with her Cutie Moon Rod, her weapon from the Sailor Moon R season of the anime.

As is often the case we’re only seeing a prototype at first. If all goes well we’ll be seeing the completed version in colour soon.
First look at Legend Studio’s Sailor Moon S figure
We haven’t heard about Legend Studio’s line of Sailor Moon S figures since February but we’ve finally got a first look at them from the ACG HK 2013 convention. We previously only saw images of the characters and some rough 3D renders of the pieces making up the figure but now we can see a prototype of the figure itself. As is often the case with prototypes we don’t have any colours however a cardboard display does show us what the figure would look like in full colour and it looks pretty good.
