Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute Album Review

The Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute Album was finally release on January 29th. I got my copy a couple of weeks ago and have been quite happy with it. I would encourage readers to buy a copy for themselves from sites such as Amazon Japan, CD Japan or JList. Alternatively you can download the album illegally from the Miss Dream web site.

This album, as we have mentioned before, includes covers of popular Sailor Moon songs by a variety of Japanese musical artists. We spoke a lot about who these bands were in earlier posts about this album. I generally enjoyed the album quite a bit. It filled me with nostalgia for these famous songs which I’ve listened to countless times over the years but still offered something new to appreciate with the different takes all of these artists have on these songs which are now up to 20 years old. Below I will include brief thoughts on each of the tracks.

Sailor Saturn S. H. Figuarts prototype revealed at Wonder Festival 2014

This weekend at Wonder Festival 2014 in Chiba Japan Bandai revealed their prototype for the Sailor Saturn S. H. Figuarts figure. After Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus had been revealed it was not clear who would be next, but we now know it will be Sailor Saturn. This prototype is not painted so it is only grey.

Why Sailor Saturn? This seems like an odd choice given earlier figures were released in the order of their appearance in the manga and anime, though we seem to be getting Sailor Venus before Sailor Jupiter. The next obvious choice would have been Sailor Pluto or perhaps Sailor Uranus or Neptune or even Tuxedo Mask or Sailor Chibi Moon but not Sailor Saturn, based on order of appearance alone. Regardless, Sailor Saturn is a popular character and her Silence Glaive accessory looks great. Looking forward to seeing more of this figure and what other Sailor Moon characters will come in the S. H. Figuarts line. I wouldn’t chance a guess at who we’ll see next at this point.

“The Adventures of Tuxedo” Sailor Moon/Batman shirt available today at ShirtPunch

Here’s a nice looking shirt that crosses Batman: The Animated Series and Sailor Moon which will be for sale today, February 6th, at ShirtPunch. Like with other shirt a day sites is it only available for a day at a low price of $10. The shirt has Tuxedo Mask posing as Batman like he looks in the logo for Batman: The Animated Series.

The shirt’s artists is TeeKetch who recently did a similar design showing Tuxedo Mask in a Batman style pose on a rooftop. More of his work can be found on his Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Volumes 5 and 6 of the Complete Editions of the Sailor Moon manga are on sale now in Japan

The 5th and 6th volumes of the new Complete Editions of the Sailor Moon manga are in stores in Japan now. I received my copy a few days ago. The Complete Editions of the Sailor Moon manga are a slightly larger format with glossy pages and all colour pages originally appearing in the pages of Nakayoshi. The entire series will be collected over 10 volumes. Volumes 5 and 6 cover the entirety of the Infinity arc, which includes the appearance of Sailor Neptune, Uranus and Saturn as well as the Death Busters. It ends with the appearance of Pegasus setting up the next two books. Also included are Chibiusa’s Picture Diary Chapter 2 and the Princess Kaguya’s Lover story. These are normally included in this order, as opposed to earlier side stories which were included early at the end of volume 4.

Sailor Moon/Hunger Games shirt for sale this week at Zebra Tees

Here’s a shirt which crosses Sailor Moon and The Hunger Games which is for sale for the next week, January 29th to February 4th, at Zebra Tees for just $9. I’m not terribly well versed in The Hunger Games but it seems that the logo resembles a District Seal. It has “District” written in Japanese Katakana on it and the Kanji symbol for “Moon” is at the bottom where the number of the District would usually appear. The writing above the seal says “The Sailor Senshi Games”.

The shirt is by Machmigo who also made the Lunar Express shirt which sold at ShirtPunch. This shirt and the rest in the series are available in her RedBubble store. In addition to Sailor Moon she also has Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus for sale. This retro game style shirt featuring four of Sailor Moon’s items is available today at ShirtPunch. This shirt shows pixelated versions of Sailor Chibi Moon’s Crystal Carillon which she uses as an attack item in Sailor Moon SuperS, as well as three of Sailor Moon’s transformation brooches, the Crisis Moon Compact used to transform into Super Sailor Moon in Sailor Moon SuperS, the Cosmic Heart Compact from Sailor Moon S and the Eternal Moon Article used to transform into Eternal Sailor Moon in Sailor Stars.

Pretty Guardian Trainer Mercury Sailor Moon/Pokémon shirt for sale today at ShirtPunch

Today this Pretty Guardian Trainer Mercury shirt, which combines the worlds of Sailor Moon and Pokémon, will be for sale at ShirtPunch. The shirt is for sale January 13th for 24 hours for $10. Sailor Mercury’s Pokémon team includes Dragonair, Lapras, Wartortle and Vaporeon.

Sailor Moon/Batman Moon Knight Rises shirt available until Sunday at OtherTees

From today until 4pm EST on Sunday, December 29th, you can pick up this Moon Knight Rises shirt from OtherTees for $11. This is a reprint as the shirt was sold on this same site in February of this year. The shirt features a silhouette of Sailor Moon on a rooftop looking like Batman, with a crescent Moon in the background that is being projected like the Bat Signal.
