Star Power Stick inspired Sailor Moon nail polish

Sailor Moon nail polish as Star Power Sticks

Yet another Sailor Moon make up accessory is now up for pre-order from Bandai and Creer Beaute. The “Sailor Moon R Miracle Romance Nail Collection” is a set of nail polishes that come in bottles that resemble the tops of the Star Power Sticks, the transformation items used in Sailor Moon R. These aren’t as convincing cosplay items as Bandai’s Crystal Star Brooch because the bottles do not resemble the entire items but rather just the tops. Though five of these bottles exist there were only four Star Power Sticks in Sailor Moon R. Sailor Moon transformed with her Crystal Star Brooch but a pink bottle similar to the others is done in Sailor Moon’s style.

This item was announced on the official Sailor Moon site and will be released in October for a price of 5250 yen, which is about $55 US. For now Japanese collectors can pre-order this set from this page, but these pre-orders sell out quickly! There are no sites currently offering this item to international collectors. Pre-orders are being limited to two per purchaser and so other retailers aren’t able to make bulk orders. If this set becomes available through some other means we will be sure to let you know.

Bandai’s Sailor Moon Crystal Star Brooch Make Up Compact

Bandai's Sailor Moon Crystal Star Brooch

Bandai has a new toy out that will have you screaming “Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!”. It’s Sailor Moon’s Crystal Star Brooch that she uses to transform in the Sailor Moon R series, but it’s also completely functional with make up included! It’s full convoluted Japanese name which is entirely composed of English words is the “Sailor Moon R Moon Miracle Romance Shining Powder”. The product is made by Japanese company Creer Beaute. The outside of the brooch looks just like it does in the show and the inside even includes an image of the Silver Crystal and other designs seen inside the brooch during Sailor Moon’s transformation sequence.

I’m not a huge make up guy but according to the official site the powder will prevent oily looking skin, has moisturizer included and is a pink glitter colour. Now if you’re caught with glitter on you, the excuse you can give to your jealous spouse can be that you were simply playing with your Sailor Moon toy. But hold that excuse until October when the toy will be released! The toy will be 3980 yen which is about $41 American.

Sailor Moon animation director Kazuko Tadano confirms a delay of the new anime series in an interview at Cartoonist 2013

Kazuko Tadano from the Sailor Moon anime

Kazuko Tadano, animation director and character designer for the original Sailor Moon series, confirmed in an Italian interview at the Cartoonist 2013 convention in Nice, France that the new Sailor Moon anime series would be delayed, potentially up to December. While Kazuko Tadano will not be working on the new anime series she stated that nothing was in the works, that there will be a large delay and that it will probably be ready in December. While this is once again not an official announcement of a delay this adds to a mountain of evidence that has already suggested a delay is happening. It should also be considered that since Kazuko Tadano is not associated with the show this isn’t first hand information but likely something she’s heard from someone else in the industry. We can’t make any definitive conclusions about the idea that the delay could be until the end of the year, though this does match up with the winter 2014 estimate that was given by a European distributor for Toei a few weeks ago.

Beyond this news she also discussed her work on Sailor Moon. When asked about leaving the series after two seasons of doing character designs and animation direction she mentioned that it was difficult to work with Toei and that she wanted to work on other projects. She also talked about Ail and An, the two aliens from Sailor Moon R, and how they were original characters of her own creation.

Mystery of the creepy topless Sailor Moon statue solved!

Creepy topless Sailor Moon statue mystery solved

A few weeks ago we shared an image of this creepy Sailor Moon statue which looked topless but was more likely just a statue with faded paint. I was unable to find what the original statue looked like at the time but now a poster at the Sailor Moon forums has dug up a picture of one of these in better condition.

Sailor Moon children's ride paint intact

It turns out the statue is actually part of a ride. This is not terribly evident in the original picture given it doesn’t give a full view of what it is, but knowing it’s a ride it’s fairly easy to find many more picture of these online. Some minor variations in some parts and colours of the ride can be seen, but they are all generally similar to the original one we discussed.
