Meet Linda Ballantyne, Sailor Moon, and Katie Griffin, Sailor Mars, at MegaCon Tampa Bay October 28th to the 30th

Great news for Tampa Bay area Sailor Moon fans. This weekend is MegaCon Tampa Bay at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa Florida. In attendance will be Linda Ballantyne, the voice of Sailor Moon, and Katie Griffin, the voice of Sailor Mars, both from the original English dub of the first Sailor Moon anime series. Also in attendance will be Cassandra Lee Morris, the voice of Calaveras of the Ayakashi Sisters from the new English dub of Sailor Moon R and Sailor Moon Crystal.

The main panel with Linda Ballantyne and Katie Griffin to catch is at 3pm in Saturday with “Moon Prism Power! Sailor Moon Memories with Star Voice Actors”. Later Saturday at 6pm fans can see “Anime Bloopers with Cassandra Lee Morris”. Sunday at 2pm is the Q&A with Cassandra Lee Morris. All panels are held in room 18. Will any of you be at this convention?

The first 14 episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD Tuesday August 16th

The first English home video release of Sailor Moon Crystal is coming this Tuesday, August 16th, in stores and online. This set will include the first 14 episodes of the series, which covers the Dark Kingdom story arc, in Japanese with English subtitles and with the English dub of the show. Since the Japanese release had only two episodes per release this is quite a bargain. The set will be available for a prerelease sale at Viz’s booth at Otakon this weekend for only $65. You can order the limited edition from sites like Right Stuf, which includes a bonus sun catcher for some pre-orders, and Amazon for an MSRP of $80. The regular Blu-Ray version is a bit cheaper with an MSRP of $60. Order this from Right Stuf or Amazon if you don’t care about the booklet, sun catcher and art cards. If you hate life and want to watch the show in a lower quality than you can with the free streaming version you can also get the DVD version from Right Stuf and Amazon for a bit less. Don’t do this. Even if you are a time traveler who can’t bring a Blu-Ray player with you to the past because old TVs don’t have HDMI you get the DVD with the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack so just get that.

The packaging looks good. The art cards included are the cover art for all of the Japanese releases. The included special book looks a lot like the ones that came with the Japanese releases only with interviews with the English cast. The sun catcher catches sun. You really don’t have any reason not to buy this set. With the quality of the show there’s no reason to expect this release to be plagued by the video quality issues the releases of the original Sailor Moon anime were.

Meet the cast of Sailor Moon at Fan Expo in Toronto September 1st to the 4th

Toronto Sailor Moon fans will have a chance to meet stars from the original and new dubs of Sailor Moon at Fan Expo in Toronto the weekend of September 1st to the 4th. From the 90s dub of the original Sailor Moon anime the convention will feature Linda Ballantyne, Sailor Moon, Katie Griffin, Sailor Mars, Susan Roman, Sailor Jupiter, Toby Proctor, Tuxedo Mask, Jill Frappier, Luna and Ron Rubin, Artemis. This is the main group that’s advertised as “The Stars of Sailor Moon” who will have a Sailor Moon Q&A panel.

With a convention of this size there are a lot of other voice actors present, some of which are in the new dub of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal which is being done by Viz. Voice actors from the new dub include Cherami Leigh, Sailor Venus, Veronica Taylor, Sailor Pluto, Todd Haberkorn, the voice of both Jadeite and Kenji Tsukino and Cassandra Lee Morris, Calaveras of the Ayakashi Sisters.

Fans may know Veronica Taylor best as the voice of Ash Ketchum and Ash’s Mom in Pokémon. Does this mean a Sailor Moon/Pokémon crossover will be announced at the convention? No. Of course not.

Meet the cast of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal at Anime Expo this weekend, July 1st to the 3rd

This weekend is Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California. Once again this convention will play host to a number of Sailor Moon actors, this time with a lot of the cast from the new dub of the original Sailor Moon anime and Sailor Moon Crystal. Could this mean we will finally be getting news about the English dub of Sailor Moon S? It’s been a whole year since the voice actors for Sailor Moon S were announced at Anime Expo 2015. We are long overdue to see these episodes. The voice actors will be signing Sailor Moon S art at the convention so I think it would be reasonable to expect to learn something related to Sailor Moon S at Sunday’s panel!

This convention will feature Stephanie Sheh, Sailor Moon, Cristina Vee, Sailor Mars, Amanda Miller, Sailor Jupiter, Cherami Leigh, Sailor Venus, Sandy Fox, Chibiusa, Robbie Daymond, Tuxedo Mask, new voice actors from Sailor Moon S Erica Mendez, Sailor Uranus, Lauren Landa, Sailor Neptune and Christine Cabanos, Sailor Saturn. Most of the events will be going on this Sunday, July 3rd. The Sailor Moon panel will be at 10am Pacific Time and an autograph session will be held at 1:30pm. The cast will be signing Sailor Moon S posters provided by Viz.

Meet Jennifer Cihi and Lauren Landa at Villains Con this weekend in Danville, Illinois

This weekend, June 3rd to the 5th, is Villains Con at the David S. Palmer arena in Danville, Illinois. The convention will feature Jennifer Cihi, who provided the vocals for a number of songs from the English dub of the original Sailor Moon anime, and Lauren Landa, the new voice of Sailor Neptune for Viz’s new dub of the original Sailor Moon anime and Sailor Moon Crystal.

The Infinity Arc of Sailor Moon Crystal will not be released in English starting this week

After Act 26 was released in English on Hulu last Friday some users were hoping that the new episodes of the Infinity arc would already be dubbed and released starting last night. This didn’t seem likely as these episodes were only released in Japanese recently and the process to dub episodes is quite involved. Now that Friday night has come and gone with nothing new we have confirmation that the English episodes of the Infinity arc of Sailor Moon Crystal will not be released right away.

We continue to wait for some news about Sailor Moon S being dubbed. The cast was announced last summer at Anime Expo. Sailor Moon R has been completed released on video since December. The gap between episodes being released has been significantly longer than any other, but we still have no specifics about when the first episodes of Sailor Moon S will be released on Hulu or on home video. This is by far the most common question I get asked on this site and I never have a good answer. We will likely have another Moonlight Party with some sample episodes released when the DVD and Blu-Ray are first announced but there’s no telling when that might be. As always when I hear any news about this I’ll post something to the site.

The first English Sailor Moon Crystal Blu-Ray Set will be released August 16th

The first North American home video release of Sailor Moon Crystal is coming August 16th. This set will include the first 14 episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal, which covers the entire Dark Kingdom story arc and concludes with the appearance of Chibiusa. The set is currently up for preorder from Right Stuf for $63 US. It will likely be available for preorder at other stores soon. The set includes the episodes in Japanese and English, with optional subtitles, some extras, a full colour booklet and some art cards.

The box art looks like a lot like the Japanese releases and the included cards feature individual cover art for those releases. With the Japenese Blu-Rays including only 2 episodes a piece and costing as much as this entire set, this is quite a bargain for fans who have been enjoying the show. Right Stuf preorder will include an exclusive sun catcher.

The animation will almost certainly be the updated animation used for the Japanese home video release and English dub of Sailor Moon Crystal, which features minor changes from the original subtitled streaming version.

The English version of Sailor Moon Crystal Act 26 – Replay – Never Ending, is now available on Hulu

The Black Moon story arc of Sailor Moon Crystal is now available to view in English on Hulu and Neon Alley in its entirety. Now that the first 26 episodes of the series have been dubbed we should expect a lengthy break before we see any other English episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal. The Infinity arc has only started to be available subbed so it will be a while until that dubbing takes place.

Crystal Tokyo is finally saved, thanks to the help of Sailor Chibi Moon. Sailor Moon must be careful not to see the future version of herself, which she does anyway with no consequence. This is the home video version of the animation which is updated from the original streaming version. The main change here is Chibiusa’s updated broach in the final scene. I mostly wrote but never got around to posting my final Blu-Ray review and that’s the most significant thing I recall from it.

The final episode of the Black Moon story will be available to view in English on Hulu and Neon Alley May 6th starting at 9pm Eastern Time. Act 26, Replay – Never Ending, will be the last English episode we will see for a while. Will the Death Phatom be defeated?

This episode features this silly thing about the old and future versions of Usagi not seeing each other. Ready to see the universe implode?

The English version of Sailor Moon Crystal Act 25, Showdown – Death Phantom, is now available on Hulu

The latest English dubbed episode of Sailor Moon Crystal is now available on Hulu and Neon Alley. We’re almost at the end of the Black Moon story arc this week with Act 25, Showdown – Death Phantom. Sailor Pluto stops time which is a taboo and the consequences might get Diana a full time job.

Chibiusa finally became a Sailor Guardian this week as we see her transformation into Sailor Chibi Moon. Next week is the last episode of this story arc and it will also be the last English dubbed episode we’ll likely see in a while. The new Infinity episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal won’t likely be dubbed for some time.
