Pre-order Sailor Moon Reflections, Roland Parliament’s book about the dubbing of Sailor Moon

Last year at Unplugged Expo 2 Roland Parliament, voice director for the first 65 episodes of Sailor Moon and the voice of Melvin, announced that he would be releasing a book about the dubbing of the show. Sailor Moon Relections, the inside story of the original recordings of the English version of Sailor Moon, is nearing completion. In order to be published it needs pre-orders, which you can put in now by mail or through Pay Pal. Information about this pre-order can be found at Moon Chase. A hard copy of the book will be $20 for softcover and $30 for hardcover. There is also a $4.99 ebook option which does not require a pre-order.

You can also check out Moon Chase to see excerpts of the book which include a foreword by Terri Hawkes, the voice of Sailor Moon.

A trailer for Sailor Moon Crystal, the new Sailor Moon anime which will begin airing July 5th, has been released. Watch it now!

This is a good look at the show’s animation in action. What do you think? We have our first look at Luna whose voice actress is not Keiko Han who voiced her in the original anime and the live action series. As was been previously announced we can hear Kotono Mitsuishi, the original voice of Sailor Moon, reprising her role.

Sailor Moon episodes 7 and 8 are now available on Hulu

This Monday, June 2nd, Hulu has added two new episodes of Sailor Moon. These episodes are subbed only by Viz and are being released at a rate of two episodes a week every Monday for the foreseeable future. This week we have episodes 7 and 8.

Episode 7, Usagi Learns Her Lesson: Becoming a Star Is Hard Work, has Usagi and her classmates going wild preparing for the Cinderella Caravan, a local talent show promoted by teen idol Mikan, or rather a monster who is posing as Mikan. The talent show is nothing but a plot by Jadeite and the Dark Kingdom to steal energy. Along the way we have Usagi and Naru breaking the 4th wall by performing the show’s theme song and Umino cross dressing in an attempt to do anything to win the contest!

Episode 8, The Girl Genius Is a Monster: The Brainwashing Cram School of Horror, introduces us to Ami Mizuno, a quiet genius at Usagi’s school with an IQ of 300 (IQs over around 160 are generally thought to be beyond our ability to properly measure). The Dark Kingdom has infiltrated a cram school and Usagi suspects Ami might be in league with the enemy. As it turns out she’s the latest Sailor Guardian Sailor Mercury!

Next week we’ll be seeing episode 9, Usagi’s Misfortune! Watch Out for the Rushing Clocks, which although dubbed in English was sometimes not aired in syndication due to the unfortunate English title “Time Bomb”. Also released next Monday will be “Cursed Buses! Fire Warrior Mars Appears” which is the first appearance of the greatest character in the series!

Fan Fiction The Show Sailor Moon returns to Toronto with Linda Ballantyne and Toby Proctor June 19th

Fan Fiction is returning to Toronto and this time Linda Ballantyne, the voice of Sailor Moon, will be joining Toby Proctor, the voice of Tuxedo Mask, at this comedy special. The show takes place Thursday June 19th at 9:30pm at the Comedy Bar at 945 Bloor St. West in downtown Toronto.

Fan Fiction The Show is a recurring comedy special that consists of a live comedic reading of Fan Fiction of one franchise or another with various comedians playing the parts of characters from these franchises. Fan Fiction The Show Sailor Moon was a great success when it first took place last July and had Toby Proctor dressed up as Tuxedo Mask for his performance. The Sailor Moon Pullip doll is coming in July, will come with a plush Luna and will cost $170

The Sailor Moon Pullip doll which was announced in March is available for pre-order in Japan and with that we have more details about it. The doll will be released in July and will cost a whopping 17,280 yen, about $170 US. Pullip dolls sure aren’t cheap! This kind of price is expected for a licensed doll like this. Sailor Moon also comes with a mini stuffed Luna accessory.

The doll’s height is 31 cm, a bit over 12 inches, with a 6.5 cm head, about 2.5 inches.

Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute Album Vinyl Records to be released June 25th

The Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute Album is getting a release on vinyl! There will be five different records released with two songs on each. Collect all five to get the full album.

Each record features cover art of a different Sailor Guardian. The record with Sailor Moon on the cover contains Moonlight Densetsu and Tuxedo Mirage, both performed by Momoiro Clover Z. The one with Sailor Mercury on the cover contains the Sailor Star Song by Mitsuko Horie and Heart Moving by Shoko Nakagawa. Sailor Mars is found on the jacket of the record containing La Soldier by Tommy Heavenly6 and Ai No Senshi by Mariko Goto and Avu-chan. The record with Sailor Jupiter on the cover contains Princess Moon by Haruka Fukuhara and “Rashiku” Ikimasho by Haruko Momoi. Finally the record featuring Sailor Venus on the cover contains Otome No Policy by Etsuko Yakushimaru and Kaze Mo Sora Mo Kitto by Makoto Kawamoto. The bonus track from the CD, the French version of Moonlight Densetsu, does not have a vinyl release as it is not part of the core album.

The records can be purchased individually or as a set from HMV. Since the links on that page don’t seem to work click directly on the product name to buy the box set featuring all five or the individual record featuring Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter or Sailor Venus. The box set costs 8100 yen, about $80 US and the individual records each cost 1620 yen, about $16 US.

Many designs of Sailor Moon space shirts for sale until Thursday at Pop Up Tee

From now until 2pm EST on Thursday May 15th there are eight Sailor Moon shirts available at Pop Up Tee. Most of these feature one of the Sailor Guardians in front of a space background. Linda Ballantyne, Katie Griffin, Susan Roman, Toby Proctor and John Stocker to appear at Anime North in Toronto May 23rd to the 25th

In just a couple of weeks, May 23rd to the 25th 2014, a bunch of voice actors from the English dub of Sailor Moon will be appearing at Anime North in Toronto. The convention will play host to Linda Ballantyne, the voice of Sailor Moon, Katie Griffin, the voice of Sailor Mars, Susan Roman, the voice of Sailor Jupiter, Toby Proctor, the voice of Tuxedo Mask and John Stocker, voice director for the movies and later seasons of the series.

Last year at Anime North I was able to record the Memories of the 80s and Sailor Moon Voice Actor Q&A panels. Also be sure to check out the interviews I did with John Stocker, Katie Griffin, Susan Roman, Linda Ballantyne and Toby Proctor.

Following Sunday’s live event where the character art for the new series was revealed the Sailor Moon official site added more images of the characters. Here we have Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus both in their Sailor Guardian costumes and as civilians Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako. There is also specific information about the show listed on the site. The series will premier July 5th 2014 7pm Japan Standard Time (6am Easter Standard Time) and will air once every 2 weeks. It has since been confirmed that the series will air for 26 episodes, which means it will run for a year.
