Jessica Nigri, Monika Lee and more to cosplay as Sailor Moon characters at Anime South December 27th to the 29th

Lindze Merrit, Riki Lecotey, Katie George and Monika Lee cosplaying as Sailor Moon characters for Anime South 2013

Anime South 2013 is this coming weekend, December 27th to the 29th, in Pensacola Florida. Attending as guests will be professional cosplayers Jessica Nigri, Monika Lee, Katie George, Carolann Voltarel, Lindze Merrit, Riki LeCotey, and Anna Fischer. I met up with Jessica Nigri and Monika Lee at Pop Expo 2013 in Ottawa a couple of weeks ago. When I suggested they cosplay as Sailor Moon characters Jessica mentioned that at an upcoming convention in Florida she would cosplay as Sailor Venus, Monika Lee would cosplay as Sailor Mars and Riddle (Riki LeCotey) would be Sailor Mercury. It looks like at least a couple of other guests will be wearing Sailor Moon costumes this weekend as well.

Monika Lee as Sailor Mars

Monika Lee posted a photo of her Sailor Mars costume in progress to Instagram. Riki LeCotey also posted a photo of herself as Sailor Mercury along with Lindze Merrit as Sailor Venus, Monika Lee as Sailor Mars and Katie George as another Sailor Soldier who’s gem is not visible.

Sailor Moon and cosplay fans may want to get a chance to grab a photo with these professional cosplayers dressed as their favourite characters. We’re looking forward to seeing what these costumes look like once they’re complete.

Official Sailor Moon lingerie coming this February

Sailor Moon costume lingerie from Peach John

Peach John, a mail order lingerie company in Japan, is producing a line of official Sailor Moon panties, bras and pyjamas including costume lingerie! Yes that’s right, these are official Sailor Moon products that are currently advertised on the official Sailor Moon site. Pre-orders are now open and run until December 25th. The items will be released in February. They can be ordered through Bandai’s site.

The costume lingerie (bra set) items are certain to be a popular items. You can cosplay as Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus or Jupiter in these less than completely show accurate outfits who’s designs are partly inspired by the original costumes with Sailor Moon’s original transformation broach appearing on her bra but with stars appearing on most chokers which is consistent with costumes from the SuperS series. The sets come with a bra and panty piece as well as a ribbon choker. These would hardly be functional under most clothing as the bows and other awkward parts would be quite cumbersome. I’m sure fans can find an appropriate time to wear such things. Each set costs 4980 yen, about $48.50 US.

I’m unable to read that Japanese writing due to it being low rez and my not actually reading Japanese.

New super deformed Sailor Moon figures from MegaHouse

MegaHouse Sailor Moon figures

There are some great looking new Sailor Moon figures on their way from MegaHouse. These super deformed or “chibi” style figures come in a total of 14 designs, showing 8 characters. How does that work? Well the series includes two versions each of Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Tuxedo Mask as well as lucky items of Luna and Artemis. It may appear that there are duplicate figures but in reality there are simply variations in the winking faces of the various Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask has a variant without his mask. The toys are 6 to 9 cm tall (about 2.4″ to 3.5″) and are set to hit store shelves in Japan this winter. They are 700 yen each, about $7 US, though they are likely to be sold as a set.

Pre-order Bandai’s Sailor Mars S. H. Figuarts figure

Sailor Mars S. H. Figuarts figure

The pre-order for Bandai’s Sailor Mars S. H. Figuarts figure has been available on Amazon for a few weeks now but I didn’t get a chance to post about it but that’s okay because it’s a pre-order! The figure won’t be released in North American until January 15th. You can get the figure a bit earlier if you import it from Japan but be prepared to pay for it in shipping! The figure is out on December 31st in Japan so you won’t be getting it that much sooner, as compared to other figures. You can pre-order it from sites like JList, CD Japan, YesAsia or Amazon Japan.

Can’t wait to get a figure? The Sailor Moon figure is actually out and you can get it now from Amazon! It’s been out for a while in Japan and has just been released in North America. Many fans have already gotten their figures (mine is still in the mail) but if you didn’t pre-order it you can order it now and it will ship right away. Sailor Mercury is also available for pre-order from Amazon for a December 15th release date. If you’re impatient you can import the toy from sites like CD Japan or Amazon Japan and it will ship on October 31st.

We also now finally have colour pictures of the Sailor Venus figure, previously seen only as a prototype, and the Sailor Jupiter figure which we hadn’t seen before. Check out this group shot from the S. H. Figuarts Sailor Moon site.

Pretty Guardian Trainer Venus Sailor Moon/Pokémon shirt for sale today at ShirtPunch

Pretty Guardian Trainer Venus - Shirt Punch

Today Shirt Punch is selling this “Pretty Guardian Trainer Venus” shirt which is a mash up of Sailor Moon and Pokémon. The shirt is sold for $10 for but only for a 24 hour period, September 2nd. Unfortunately I only got around to posting this with 6 hours or so left in the day. The shirt has Artemis as Meowth, Ninetales, Rapidash with a moon on it’s forehead (also Artemis?) and an Ampharos which is so obscure I actually had to look up it’s name.

This shirt is designed by Izzy Faith who previously designed this “Winning Love” Sailor Moon shirt. For more of her stuff you can check out her modelling page or her new artist page. She has mentioned that this is the first in a series of sailormoonXpokemon designs so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more like this.

Bandai’s Sailor Venus S. H. Figuarts figure prototype

Bandai's Sailor Venus S. H. Figuarts figures

Bandai’s Sailor Venus S. H. Figuarts figure has finally been revealed. She joins Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter to complete the main group of five girls. It was only a matter of time before Venus would be revealed. Now it’s anyone’s guess as to who might be next. Sailor Chibi Moon? Sailor Pluto followed by Uranus and Neptune? Maybe we’ll see a Tuxedo Mask figure!

In this image brought to us by the Cybergundam Blog we also get a better look at Sailor Mars’s prototype figure. Currently we’ve only seen colour versions of the Sailor Moon and Mercury figures but colour versions of Sailor Mars, Jupiter and Venus will be along in time. Bandai’s S. H. Figuarts figures are very detailed with many swappable parts. You can pre-order Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury from the links at the bottom of this post. We’ll update the site with more links as they become available.

Stephanie Morgenstern to appear at Unplugged Expo in Toronto this October

Mina - Sailor Venus

Stephanie Morgenstern, the voice of Sailor Venus from the English dub of the Sailor Moon anime, will be the guest of honour at the Unplugged Expo October 26th & 27th in downtown Toronto. Watch this video featuring Stephanie Morgenstern for the full announcement:

The video teases “Wouldn’t it be great if we could get all the Sailor Scouts in one place at the same time?”. That certainly sounds like A Weekend of Awesome. We certainly hope more voice actors will be able to join this convention. We’ll let you know of any new developments as we learn about them.

Check out the Unplugged Expo official site and Facebook page to stay up to date on new updates.
