A man dressed as Sailor Moon failed to defeat Donald Trump at a rally

Who loves Donald Trump? Anybody? A Donald Trump rally seems like the last place to find a Sailor Moon Cosplayer, but that’s what just happened this past Sunday in Atlanta. Artist and comedian Zack Fox, known as bootymath, stripped off his street clothes to reveal a Sailor Moon costume! He was chearing “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” and I assume he would have completed it to “U.S.A.G.I.” had he not been escorted out by police. The incident didn’t seem to be all that alarming. There was no ensuing chaos. bootymath seemed almost out of place absent of some sort of intense backlash by the masses that should have been shocked by his display. Sailor Moon stands for love and justice. Donald Trump stands for hate and corruption. What would Sailor Moon have done in this situation? She would probably have healed Trump and his followers with the Silver Crystal, leaving nothing but confused peace loving hippies, dramatically impacting the outcome of the upcoming primaries and presidential election. This didn’t happen of course, because Usagi isn’t even a registered US voter and if she was real she would be Queen of Crytal Tokyo by now, and so the circus that is the Republican Party presidential primary continues.

Emily Bett Rickards, Arrow’s Felicity Smoak, dressed as Sailor Moon for Halloween

Universes collided last night as Emily Bett Rickards, who plays the Arrow’s tech savvy lover Felicity Smoak in the CW’s Arrow, donned a Sailor Moon costume for a Halloween party. Complicating things further we have a photo of DC Universe character Felicity Smoak dressed as Sailor Moon posing next to Chloe Bennet who plays Skye aka Daisy aka Quake in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Was this crossover authorized?

Oh yes, and Colton Haynes, who played Roy the Red Arrow in the series, was dressed as Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

Who knew Emily Bett Rickards was a Sailor Moon fan? People who were paying attention did! About 2 years ago she posted a clip to Instagram showing that she was watching Sailor Moon “Thursday from now on ever”. I am unable to verify if she carried through with this promise!

Susan Roman, the voice of Sailor Jupiter, joins the Toronto Sailor Moon Celebration September 27th

Yet another voice actor has joined the growing list that will be attending the Toronto Sailor Moon Celebration in only 2 weeks on September 27th. Susan Roman, the voice of Sailor Jupiter for the entire series in the original English dub of Sailor Moon, will be joining the previously announced guests at the convention. We previously reported that this one day convention at the Ontario Science Centre would also include Roland Parliament, voice director of the first 65 episodes and the voice of Melvin, Ron Rubin, the voice of Artemis, and Jill Frappier, the voice of Luna.

Ammie Cosplay was also recently added to the guest list. Fans are encouraged to wear Sailor Moon cosplay at this event! Tickets to the convention are only $12, $14 including a special collectible bracelet. The bracelets are branded as Sailor Moon Day International as the event was originally going to to take place on Sailor Moon Day 2015. A lot is planned for this events including a number of panels, some of which I will be participating in. I’m coming all the way from the distant land of Gatineau. Surely you can make it out as well! This event is not confined to any single city as many cities around the world are celebrating small Sailor Moon gatherings in their own cities. Sailor Moon cosplay for Halloween

It’s Halloween weekend and this year I put together a Tuxedo Mask costume modelled after his new costume from Sailor Moon Crystal while my girlfriend dressed up as Sailor Mars. The Tuxedo Mask costume is mostly made from scratch and with modified second hand clothing though a normal suit is used as the base. The Sailor Mars costume is pre made though some modifications were done to make it reflect Sailor Moon Crystal designs. If you made a costume of a Sailor Moon character for this year’s Halloween let us know about it in the comments on the blog, Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr.

While I realize the coupling of Sailor Mars and Tuxedo Mask is not canon in Sailor Moon Crystal this relationship is legit in the first season of the original Sailor Moon anime prior to Sailor Moon stealing Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Mars due to pesky destiny. I’ll never stop shipping these two.

Jessica Nigri, Gladzy Kei, Andy Rae, Vicky Lau and Jessica Roh are cosplaying as armoured Sailor Guardians at Edmonton Expo this weekend

This weekend at the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo a number of cosplayers appeared as armoured Sailor Guardians. In this photo which was posted to Jessica Nigri’s Facebook Page we can see Gladzy Kei as Sailor Mercury, Andy Rae as Sailor Jupiter, Jessica Nigri as Sailor Mars, Vicky Lau as Sailor Chibi Moon and Jessica Roh as Sailor Venus. The costumes were designed by Gladzy Kei.

Also appearing at the convention this weekend is Rino Romano, the first voice of Tuxedo Mask from the DiC English dub of Sailor Moon.

AKB48’s Haruna Kojima posing in Peach John’s new Sailor Moon lingerie and dresses

We recently posted about the new lingerie and dresses from Peach John but all we had to share were boring pictures of the outfits. “What would these look like if they were worn by me”, asked our readers, most of whom are Japanese pop stars. Well good news! You’ll look like this new image which was posted to the official Sailor Moon site.

The model wearing these four items is AKB48 star Haruna Kojima. AKB48 is a Japanese pop band comprised of 48 members. She has been a member since the beginning. The outfits worn in the photos are the Saior Moon lingerie, the Princess Serenity dress, the Black Lady dress and Usagi’s school uniform.

Otakon to feature six voice actors from the old and new Sailor Moon dubs August 8th to the 10th

Two Sailor Moons at one convention? There’s a ton going on at Otakon 2014 from August 8th to the 10th including voice actors from the original and new Sailor Moon dub and a special presentation and exclusive collectibles from Viz. Voice actors from Viz’s new Sailor Moon dub include Stephanie Sheh, the voice of Sailor Moon and Robbie Daymond, the voice of Tuxedo. From the original DIC and Cloverway Sailor Moon dub we have Linda Ballantyne, the 3rd voice of Sailor Moon, Katie Griffin, the voice of Sailor Mars, and John Stocker, voice director for Sailor Moon S and SuperS as well as all three movies.

Viz and Otakon are organizing Sailor Moon Saturday, similar to Sailor Moon Day at Anime Expo. The morning will start out with a large gathering of Cosplayers, trying to break their record set earlier this month at Anime Expo. The afternoon will include a screening of Viz’s new Sailor Moon dub, including two episodes that were not previously seen, followed by a Q&A and autograph session with Stephanie Sheh and Robbie Daymond. That evening the first two episodes of the new Sailor Moon anime Sailor Moon Crystal will be shown. Viz will have a poster, a coin and a t-shirt exclusive to Otakon.

The Sailor Moon cosplaying Chihuahuas have new costumes!

A few month ago we posted some photos of some chihuahuas cosplaying as characters from Sailor Moon. Instagram user mayama_ya has made more costumes for her dogs as can be seen in these new photos! The new outfits are Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn, the Sailor Guardians from the outer solar system. Watch this video of the dogs on their new costumes.

Jennifer Cihi joins Viz and the cast of Sailor Moon for Sailor Moon Day at Anime Expo July 5th

An announcement on the Anime Expo web site tells us that Jennifer Cihi, the singer who performed many of the songs for the English dub of Sailor Moon, will be performing at the convention in Los Angeles July 3rd to the 6th. Jennifer Cihi joins Viz and many voice actors for the weekend which will include Sailor Moon Day, July 5th, which is the day the new Sailor Moon anime’s first episode will be released. Jennifer Cihi, who performed the songs I Wanna Be A Star, My Only Love, Call My Name, It’s a New Day, Carry On, I Want Someone to Love, I Want to Hold Your Hand, The Power Of Love and Who Do You Think You Are? will be performing in the opening ceremonies, in Lounge 21 and will be holding autograph sessions.

Viz Media’s press release details all that they have planned for the weekend. Saturday July 5th is Sailor Moon Day when most of the events are planned. Starting at 10am is Viz’s Sailor Moon Official Panel where the first two episodes of Viz’s new English dub of Sailor Moon will be premiered. The cast will be revealed for the first time and will be there to answer questions. Attendees also will be able to pick up a premium poster. At 1pm an autograph session for the voice actors from Viz’s new Sailor Moon dub will be taking place in the autograph area. At 2:45pm at Viz Media’s booth, 1601, there will be a photo op with the new voice cast and the official Sailor Guardian Cosplayers from American Cosplay Paradise. At 3:30pm there will be a gathering of Sailor Moon cosplayers in the main events hall. Viz will also be offering a limited premiere event memorial coin at the convention.

In addition to the new Sailor Moon voice cast the original Sailor Moon English DiC/Cloverway voice cast will also be in attendence. As we posted about back in January, the convention will also be playing host to Linda Ballantyne, Sailor Moon, Karen Bernstein, Sailor Mercury, Katie Griffin, Sailor Mars, Susan Roman, Sailor Jupiter, Stephanie Morgenstern, Sailor Venus, Toby Proctor, Tuxedo Mask, Mary Long who voice Molly, Catsy and JunJun, Ron Rubin, Artemis and John Stocker, voice director for the movies and final two seasons. Linda Ballantyne has mentioned via twitter that the original cast autograph session will be at 12:15pm on Friday July 4th with their panel at 3:00pm. It is not yet clear what voice actors, if any, will be reprising their role in the new dub or what new voice actors may be making appearences at the convention.
