We’ve finally got our first look at some of the Dead Moon Circus’s villains from the upcoming Sailor Moon Eternal films! The Sailor Moon official site has been updated with character designs and the voice actors who will be playing the Amazon Trio in the first of the Sailor Moon Eternal movies. Tiger’s Eye will be voiced by Satoshi Hino, Hawk’s Eye will be voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga and Fish Eye will be voiced by Shouta Aoi.
Satoshi Hino, the voice of Tiger’s Eye, is a voice actor who’s been featured in many anime shows including Yuuji Sakai in Shakugan no Shana and Kamui in Gintama. Today happens to be his birthday!
Toshiyuki Toyonaga is an actor, voice actor and singer. In anime he voiced Katsuki Yuri in Yuri on Ice. He’s released many singles including the theme song for the anime Durarara!! in which he also voiced Mikado. You can follow Toshiyuki Toyonaga on Twitter @TossuiKUN.
Shouta Aoi is a singer, stage actor and voice actor. He originally sang under the name SHOWTA but later took on the pseudonym Noboru Ryugaki for independent music he released after 2009. He now releases music under the name Shouta Aoi. On stage he has performed roles such as Saki Hanajima in the live adaptation of Fruits Basket. He’s had many anime roles such as Ai Mikaze in Uta no Prince-sama and Rui Minazuki in Tsukiuta.
The first of the Sailor Moon Eternal films will be released on January 8th 2021. The film will cover the first half of the Dream arc of the Sailor Moon manga in which the Amazon Trio, members of the Dead Moon Circus, are the main villains. They will likely only be appearing in the first film with the Amazoness Quartet appearing in the second half which will be released on February 11th 2021.

Other than Fish Eye, who’s very manly chest is partially revealed, they look pretty much like the 90’s anime. Still, it’s encouraging to see all this art. Maybe we’ll get a North American release date as well soon.
what about Queen Nehelenia, Zirconia and the Amazoness Quartet
Be patient, they will come especially in the second movie. My guess is that the first movie will be the first half and the second is the other half of the arc.

yes, and she still appears later in the manga. She is there as voice, but her first full appearance is still in the second half of the arc
I don’t think they will cut them out, they are to Venus what Fish Eye, Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye are to Mercury, Mars and Jupiter.
I’m surprised they didn’t reveal the quartette first, as they appear before the the trio in the manga; the girls are actually the ones who turn the trio (tiger, hawk, and fish) into humanoids. Unless this means they plan on straying away from the manga >.< I really hope they won’t, but I fear they might.
I just think they save them as they are more popular, to keep the hype.

Based on the fact Fisheye finally has his two colored hair and the Hawks voice actor says they told him he is an “onee”, I guess they are sticking pretty close. I think they just plan something for the Quartet – merch or something. They revealed the Trio as they announced the key chains with them.
I hope that Amazoness Quartet are voiced by seiyuus who voiced Pretty Cure before or any other magical girls, so we get Sailor Quartet in a way
we were hoping to get more Precure More PreCure Reps soon i mean they already had Cure Peace’s Seiyuu for Sailor Mercury, Cure Melody’s Seiyuu for Sailor Jupiter, Cure Happy’s Seiyuu for Sailor Chibi Moon, and Cure Aqua’s Seiyuu for Sailor Pluto. What more we Need.

Looking at it now, I wonder if the piece in the front is meant to symbolize a lure, like the ones used by those scary deep-sea fish?
Ohhh! Like a deep-sea angler kind of fish? Yeah! Now that you mention it… wow! I never thought of it like that before!
Once, in high school, I did a short presentation about deep-sea anglers, and I tried to make it as gross-out and ‘scary’ as I could make it.
They are scary! But it would make sense, especially in the anime since Fish Eye usually lures his targets to a secluded place using a pretty, innocent face and disguise and then WHAM!

Isn’t it “Fish’s Eye” instead of “Fish Eye”, considering that his partners are Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye?
That would be consistent but that doesn’t seem to be what he’s called.
The difference is that a Fish Eye isn’t a specific gem, it’s a way of cutting a gem so it is dull, not sparkly. It is spelled Fish Eye.
Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye are similar gemstones and are spelled that way.
I’m assuming Naoko just wanted the Land, Sea and Air combo, and just chose the term Fish Eye rather than a specific gem.
However, in the Viz dub, someone thought they were correcting this and they actually call him Fish’s Eye rather than how it’s pronounced in the Japanese (and even Cloverway dub).

Very interesting. I watched the Viz dub, which is why I asked about his name since he’s called Fish’s Eye there, but it seems like that decision to uphold naming consistency came at the cost of thematic consistency (or at least, a different sort of naming consistency). Maybe Fish could’ve been called “Cat’s Eye” to complete the set, but that overlaps with Tiger’s Eye.

Yeah I think the issue is that Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye are gemstones but Naoko couldn’t find another animal gem to complement so she just went with Fish. It doesn’t look like Fish Eye gems are a real thing. There are lenses, but that’s not really the same.

Did anyone else notice that Luna has blue eyes now, like the manga version? It’s kind of a shock!
What do you think, should Luna keep the brown eyes from the anime and previous seasons to stay consitent, or do you guys like it better having her manga colors?

I always thought Luna’s eyes seemed red. They may be blue to be consistent with human Luna who we will be seeing probably in movie 2.
That sounds likely. It’s so odd (but not out of character for Toei…) to have not just done this from the start so as to avoid the discrepancy.
Oh yes, it’s kind of a shock since we’ve always known animated Luna with brown/red eyes, but I like her better with her blue eyes because it sticks to the manga and, like Adam said, they may have changed her eyes color to be consistent with human Luna. I’m so glad they did it! Also, Artemis’ eyes are green in both the manga and Crystal, but they were blue in the old anime.
They also chose very pretty shades of blue and green.

I think with tiger eye’s shoe they are missing some details with the design, but overall this seems decent the original 90’s did not stray too far from the actual manga designs I think. Overall, the designs are fine. I think the problem for me from the stuff we have seen is the actual linework/outlines of the characters are so thin compared to these character designs. For example the first movie poster with Super Sailor Chibi Moon and Super Sailor Moon look nice with the linework/shading and colors, but from actual footage I’ve seen of the movie the linework, coloring/shading, overall animation/design have been lower quality compared to the actual designs.
Oh and I think Tiger’s Eye is missing his rings/accessories on his fingers from the manga.

To call them designs would be generous. These are sub-par copies of the 90s version with a Pretty Cure twist, they look stupid and childish
