Is this a sneak peak of Yasuharu Takanashi’s music for the Sailor Moon Eternal films?

Tweet by @nassy_takanashi

Yasuharu Takanashi, the composer for the upcoming Sailor Moon Eternal films, sent a Tweet including a video of him recording some music on November 22nd. Twitter user @CCTakato noticed that the monitor seen in the background of this clip showed Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon. It is plausible that this clip is of music for the first Sailor Moon Eternal movie which will be released in Japan on September 11th 2020. Not much of the music can be heard, which is probably deliberate. Check out the footage in the embedded Tweet below.

Though it’s hard to make out the image on the screen it does look like it’s Sailor Moon near the middle and Sailor Chibi Moon on the bottom right. I messed around with the image a bit to try to clear it up and here’s the best I could come up with.

Sailor Moon Eternal - Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon

Is this the first still of Sailor Moon Eternal that we’re seeing? It looks like they were watching footage while recording their music, though in this case the video appears to be paused.

How reliable is this? Let’s not forget that Yasuharu Takanashi is the one that told us to expect Sailor Moon Crystal season 4 in 2018! What do you think?

      • Both you and Noname9q nailed it ;) .

Japanese people are so secret when it comes to their upcoming artistic productions that they always tease only tiny bits of them, so that the final product remains, until the end, a complete surprise to everyone in the world. So here, we have musicians tuning up their instruments to show us that Sailor Moon Eternal music is currently being made, but nothing more. It’s quite frustrating but also quite logical and respectful at the same time.

        • Oops, sorry Saintfighteraqua, my long comment just below was for everyone, but meant to be posted under Joe’s comment ;) .

And I think I’ve just noticed that your hint about Dead Moon music is a joke (correct me if I’m wrong)?

Sorry, these days I’m like “The lights are on, but nobody’s home.” XD

          • *my long comment just below* = no, just ABOVE.

Now I think it’s more “The light bulbs have burned out AND nobody’s home.”

          • Not totally a joke, it did sound sort of like something you’d hear inside the Dead Moon tent, like the instruments coming to life and then getting a bit chaotic.

Wasn’t meant as an insult either as I figured this is just them warming up for the actual thing. I believe this could be to show us they are starting on the music now. :)

Ooooooh yes, I see what you meant now ;) . Thank you for the explanation!

        • Yeah, I love it too! But a bad joke about Toei is always welcome :) . Poor Toei, targeted by so many clichés…

Also: *I’m already far far away… on your broomstick. Eheheheheheheh!*
*Wow, I’ve never been so high… The view from here is so… stoning.*

      • Because I don’t have a heart, I can make a heartless retort! So, Elphaba! How does it feel to have a ton of teenagers insist “Wicked” is the true and best incarnation of Oz? :D

        • That wannabe might have her devoted followers. But does she have a pack of wolves, a murder of crows, a swarm of bees, thousands of “loyal” Winkies and the power to summon the Winged Monkeys not once, not twice but three times?
Let her try to top me, just try! XD

  1. This is definetely some tuning before actual recording. These two are def Chibi Moon and Sailor Moon in I will punish you pose. While it is very blurry the proportions looks a lot more elongated than in the concept art and Chibi Moon eyes appear a bit different. Hope we are seeing a trailer soon and they were actually watching it.
