Toronto Sailor Moon fans will have a chance to meet stars from the original and new dubs of Sailor Moon at Fan Expo in Toronto the weekend of September 1st to the 4th. From the 90s dub of the original Sailor Moon anime the convention will feature Linda Ballantyne, Sailor Moon, Katie Griffin, Sailor Mars, Susan Roman, Sailor Jupiter, Toby Proctor, Tuxedo Mask, Jill Frappier, Luna and Ron Rubin, Artemis. This is the main group that’s advertised as “The Stars of Sailor Moon” who will have a Sailor Moon Q&A panel.

With a convention of this size there are a lot of other voice actors present, some of which are in the new dub of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal which is being done by Viz. Voice actors from the new dub include Cherami Leigh, Sailor Venus, Veronica Taylor, Sailor Pluto, Todd Haberkorn, the voice of both Jadeite and Kenji Tsukino and Cassandra Lee Morris, Calaveras of the Ayakashi Sisters.

Fans may know Veronica Taylor best as the voice of Ash Ketchum and Ash’s Mom in Pokémon. Does this mean a Sailor Moon/Pokémon crossover will be announced at the convention? No. Of course not.

Do you plan on attending? I’ll be there this year. This will be my third time attending Fan Expo. It’s a great convention.

Last month at Fan Expo 2013 in Toronto I was lucky enough to catch up with Toby Proctor, the voice of Tuxedo Mask, for this interview.

Toby Proctor voiced Darien and Tuxedo Mask for most of the first two season of the English dub. He also voiced his other identities the Moonlight Night and Prince Darien.

This past weekend at Fan Expo 2013 in Toronto there was a Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Cast Reunion! This included Susan Roman, the voice of Sailor Jupiter, Katie Griffin, the voice of Sailor Mars, Linda Ballantyne, the voice of Sailor Moon, Toby Proctor, the voice of Tuxedo Mask and John Stocker, voice director for Sailor Moon S and SuperS. Here’s a video of the complete panel that they held on Friday. The Fan Expo staff seriously underestimated fan interest in Sailor Moon so many people were unable to make it into the room which was at maximum capacity.

While at Fan Expo 2013 I also managed to record interviews with Susan Roman, Linda Ballantyne and John Stocker. I will be posting them to the site as time permits. I did not neglect Katie Griffin and John Stocker! I interviewed both of them at last year’s convention.

The schedule for Fan Expo 2013, the convention taking place August 22nd to the 25th, has been released online. In it we see that the “Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary Cast Reunion” panel will be taking place on Friday afternoon at 2:30pm so if you’re not a big fan of Richard Dean Anderson I suggest you cancel all other plans and make it to that panel! As we mentioned previously there will be many guests from the Sailor Moon dub in attendance at the convention. The panel will include Toby Proctor, the voice of Tuxedo Mask, Linda Ballantyne, the voice of Sailor Moon, Susan Roman, the voice of Sailor Jupiter, Katie Griffin, the voice of Sailor Mars and John Stocker, voice director for the series.

There are no autograph sessions listed for any of these actors. The Sailor Moon guests have spots at a table in a hall on the same floor at the Expo Hall. If it’s anything like last year attendees will be free to approach them for autographs throughout the weekend while they’re at their tables. Check out the area that says “Cartoon Voice Actors” on the floor plan to find your favourite Sailor Moon star.

The panel will be taking place in 701B which you can see from the floor plan is located one floor up from the main expo hall at the far end of the hall with the main elevators.

Fan Expo is a huge convention which includes an Anime stream amongst many others. Unfortunately at least year’s convention the Sailor Moon guests in attendance were not involved in any panels, but with this reunion going on there will hopefully be more Sailor Moon related events for fans eager to meet their favourite voice actors.

Here’s our interview with the very talented Katie Griffin, best known to Sailor Moon fans as the voice of Sailor Mars for almost all of the English dubbed episodes of Sailor Moon.

In this interview Katie talks about her time on Sailor Moon, the casts’s willingness to come back for the 2013 anime if asked and other works she’s done.

Fans of voice actor Cory Doran will spot a cameo by him lurking around the background of this video.

Here’s an interview with legendary voice actor and voice director John Stocker from Fan Expo in Toronto this past weekend.

John is known for many roles, perhaps most famously as Beastly from Care Bears. This interview focuses on his involvement in Sailor Moon, for which he provided many voices as well as voice directing for two seasons and three movies. John also talks about some of his more iconic roles, working in the industry throughout the years and gives some insight into being on either side of the microphone.

Fan Expo was this past weekend in Toronto. I was in attendance dressed as Kunzite and tried to take a photo of all of the Sailor Moon cosplayers I could find. Did I miss any?

Also at this year’s Fan Expo I was able to get interviews with John Stocker, voice actor and voice director for the later seasons of Sailor Moon and Katie Griffin, the voice of Sailor Mars. Both of those will be posted to the site in the coming days.
