Sailor Moon Crystal Act 10 - Princess Serenity taking her own life with Prince Endymion's sword

The latest English dubbed episode of Sailor Moon Crystal is now available on Hulu and Neon Alley. This week we get Act 10, Moon, as the gang literally travels to the Moon. There they visit the uploaded consciousness of Usagi’s mother from another life, Queen Serenity. This leads to more flashbacks including the revelation of a tragic murder suicide.

The big change from the manga in this episode is the suggestion of Shitennou Sailor Guardian pairings. This was hinted at only with an image in the original manga. There was a suggestion that Rei and Jadeite had a previous relationship in Act 3 when Jadeite found her beautiful and familiar. Also paired up are Makoto and Nephrite as well as Ami and Zoisyte. The relationship between Minako and Kunzite was mentioned elsewhere, including the Sailor V comic.

    • Yes potentially. If a straight person becomes more bisexual he is being more gay. I guess it depends on whether or not bisexual is considered a subset of gay. Didn’t give it that much thought honestly.

      • Well, speaking as a bisexual man, we are not a subset of gay, but a different type of orientation entirely. And actions towards the same sex or actions typical of the opposite sex is not an indicator of sexual orientation. Otherwise a buddy of mine who like My Little Pony would be gay, but he is definitely straight.

    • I don’t think he’s really either or, he’s manipulating Motoki. If either of them was bisexual it would probably be Motoki in this situation since he fell for mamoru’s charms…but how much of that was forced on him through dark power and how much was alraedy there, who can say?
Either way, it’s manipulation here and not healthy.

  1. One of my favorites episodes of SMC. Not because of the Sen/Shi pairings (it’s too easy and cheesy…), but because the Four Heavenly Kings find back their memories, even if it’s only for a brief moment.

    Poor flamboyant guys…

  2. I’m not a fan of how they portray the pairings. SO WEAK! I just don’t see any real romance here, way too contrived. If the series had had some filler episodes to focus on that then..no wait. I’m gonna stop there. Been there, done that! XD
I’m wondering how the dub will handle that awful forced wailing when you-know-what happens.

  3. One thing I miss from the manga that they cut from Crystal was Makoto’s cute pun about Usagi being the rabbit of the moon.

  4. I must say find it amusing how the Moon Kingdom backstory is so obviously glomped together from the author’s half-remembered childhood viewings of Rose of Versailles, Queen Millennia, and Starzinger.
