It’s a live action Sailor Moon series reunion as Masaya Kikawada, Jouji Shibue and Miyuu Sawai appear on screen together in the upcoming Super Sentai prequel special “The Legacy of the Master’s Soul”. All three actors appeared in the live action series as Motoki, Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon! The three are reprising their roles as Master Red, Master Blue and Master Pink from the Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger series which played in Japan starting in 2019. Masaya Kikawada, Jouji Shibue and Miyuu Sawai were not usually in the same episodes however all three were on screen together in the first episode of the series.

The film, which will serve as episode 0 for the series, will be made available to the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club on October 17th. There’s currently no indication of how, if at all, the special might be made available outside of Japan. Scenes from the series were used as the basis for Power Rangers Dino Fury which aired on Nickelodeon earlier this year and is available on Netflix. No Japanese actors are seen in this version of the show as that footage is replaced with English speaking actors as is typically the case with Power Rangers series.

Keiko Kitagawa, best known to Sailor Moon fans as Sailor Mars from the live action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series, will be in yet another live action adaptation of a popular manga and anime series. She will be in the upcoming The Promised Neverland movie as the character Isabella, also known as Mama. The series is about a group of children in a mysterious orphanage where Isabella is their caregiver. This takes place in the distant future where the orphanage, the only world they know, is part of some nefarious plot. I guess that means they’re not actually going to Neverland. Would it be rude to suggest this is similar to the plot of The Island? I haven’t read or seen the series but it seems like Keiko Kitagawa’s character is potentially a villain in this.

The casting for the film has already caused some controversy as the character or Krone will be portrayed by a Japanese actress, Naomi Watanabe, though the character in the manga and anime is black. This is an interesting controversy given the recurring backlash when white actors are cast in Hollywood adaptations of Japanese franchises such as Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell.

The movie will be released in Japan on December 18th. There are no details about a North American release at this time. Keiko Kitagawa, who played Sailor Mars in the live action Sailor Moon series, looks a bit familiar in an upcoming episode of Your Home is My Business. The show stars Keiko Kitagawa as a real estate agent and here we see her dressed as a fortune teller. To me this looks a lot like Rei did when she was a fortune teller in episode 189 of Sailor Stars. Coincidence? Probably. The show plays Wednesdays on NTV in Japan but I’m sure you can find it on the Internet if you try.

Why am I sharing this? There’s not much to post about with no Sailor Moon episodes playing every week! If you’re a fan of Keiko Kitagawa you should check out some of her drama series. A couple of them, Detective vs. Detectives and Hero are available to view on Crunchyroll.

It has been confirmed that Yuga Yamato will be playing Mamoru Chiba, Tuxedo Mask, in the upcoming Sailor Moon musical. The five main Sailor Guardians retired from the Sailor Moon musicals following last year’s musical Un Nouveau Voyage. It was unclear at the time who else might be leaving or returning. The new cast was announced a couple of week ago, but we got no details about who would be playing Tuxedo Mask. We now have confirmation via the official Sailor Moon site that Yuga Yamato will indeed be returning as Tuxedo Mask in October.

This likely means that the upcoming, still unnamed musical, will feature an all female cast. We will learn more about this new musical during a June 30th event, scheduled on Usagi and Chibiusa’s birthday. This event will feature the five actresses playing the main cast of the new musical as well as Kotono Mitsuishi, the voice of Sailor Moon. The event will be streamed on Niconico, though it will likely be region restricted to viewers in Japan.

This photo was posted to her official web site today as she is going overseas. Below is a picture of Sailor Mars wearing a surgical mask in episode 19 of the Sailor Moon Anime. This kind of thing is commonly seen in Japan amongst people who are sick, as Sailor Mars was in episode 19 of the anime, or simply trying to avoid getting sick. I am posting these for no real reason but I thought it was funny to see a picture of Keiko Kitagawa doing something so similar to her anime counterpart.

Hate sleep and love Halloween and the live action Sailor Moon show? Then you should get up at 5am tomorrow morning to watch Ayaka Komatsu, who played Sailor Venus in the live action Sailor Moon series, host a live Halloween show on her Niconico channel Komachannel. Ayaka will be dressed up for Halloween. What costume will she be wearing? The broadcast begins at 6pm Japan Standard time which is actually 5am Eastern Time. The live broadcast will be free to all viewers however after 7pm (6am Easter Time) it will only be available to members of her channel who pay the monthly 540 yen (about $5 US). The broadcast will be in Japanese.

Here’s a great look at what the cast of the live action Sailor Moon series look like now, 10 years later. The whole recently got together to celebrate the 28th birthday of Keiko Kitagawa, Sailor Mars in the series. From left to right are Rika Izumi, Sailor Merucry, Mew Azama, Sailor Jupiter, Keiko Kitagawa, Sailor Mars, Miyuu Sawai, Sailor Moon and Ayaka Komatsu, Sailor Venus. It’s great to see that these girls are still getting together nearly 10 years after the last episode aired. Just a short while ago they also got together to celebrate Ayaka Komatsu’s birthday.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly actress Megan Fox mentioned that she was interested in being in a live action Sailor Moon movie.

After having done movie versions of Transformers and now Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Megan Fox was asked what other cartoon she would like to be involved with a live action movie of. After mentioning an interest in Gundam Wing, Jurassic Park and Thudercats she added the following:

Sailor Moon. That could feasibly be made into a live action movie. I don’t know how many Americans were into that. I was into that, but I don’t know how huge it was here. That’s not actually a bad idea.

Keep in mind of course there are no plans to actually make such a movie. This is just something Megan Fox mentioned being interested in along with many other franchises she was a fan of when she was younger.
