Watch team Uzbekistan’s Sailor Moon inspired Rhythmic Gymnastics 5 Balls performance

Uzbekistan 5 Balls Qualification at the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup

This weekend are the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup series qualifiers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Uzbekistan team performed a Sailor Moon inspired 5 Balls performance complete with Sailor Moon outfits and Smusic! The team placed first, gold, in this qualifying performance. You can watch a video of the performance below.

Evidently the outfits the team is wearing are meant to resemble Sailor Moon herself. While five different costumes to match the various Sailor Guardians would have been nice, there are probably good reasons, perhaps rules of the competition, which meant that having matching uniforms was preferable. While the music for the performance starts out as generic music unrelated to Sailor Moon it quickly switches to something fans will instantly recognize. We have an instrumental version of the Sailor Moon opening theme Moonlight Legend followed by an edited version of the actual theme song by DALI, without the vocals. This then cuts to some background music used in Sailor Moon S when Sailor Uranus and Neptune transform before finally going back to Moonlight Legend to end the performance.

While I am not an expert in Rhythmic Gymnastics I believe this win qualifies the team for a spot at this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo, if they had not qualified already. These qualifiers, like the Olympics themselves, were originally scheduled for 2020 but delayed to this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Could we be seeing a similar performance again at the Olympics?

  1. Before today I didn’t know that Rhythmic Gymnastics with Balls was a thing. I also had no idea that the country Uzbekistan existed and where it was located! And I would never have known if it hadn’t been for Sailor moon … sort of. Great routine and execution! Happy for them :)

  2. Er… Stephanie, where is your Pikachu avatar? Ah, now I understand! The impersonator strikes again! Long time no see eh ;) ! So it seems you’ve discovered the magic of VPN! What does it feel like?

Now this infuriates me. Stephanie’s been on this site for years and she’s recently become the target of two or three self-righteous Karens who do not understand that disagreeing with someone’s capricious and self-entitled views is not a reason to attack and mock this person everytime they post a comment. Stephanie is not the troll you tell her she was gals – but you are, everytime you roast her under her comments. No doubt you chicks haven’t fully grown up yet and are still in Junior High School to be such bullies while still believing your useless behaviour is a proof of intelligence. But as long as I can remember since 2014, Stephanie has never attacked anyone in anyway here. And, as a polyglot myself, while I totally disagree with her when she demands that everything related to Sailor Moon be dubbed in English and find it exaggerated, I can understand where she’s coming from. Not everyone has the chance to be given foreign language lessons; and even if it’s the case, not everyone likes it and is good at it. Not everyone eventually gets used to watching a show in a language they don’t understand while having to read subtitles in their own language in order to follow what is happening.
I agree with politely trying to show Stephanie that her demands are not always legit and that the world cannot always adapt to her lesser desires (and we must be aware that we might not convince her and that it is totally okay, and that she remains free to express the views we disagree with) but I do not agree with putting her down with gratuitous and wicked comments everytime she says something. So far she has only expressed her very personal relationship to English and foreign languages. She seems not to be used to them and to dislike anything that is not in English. What’s the problem with that? Is she offending anyone? She doesn’t. And if you think she does nonetheless, if you think that she offends you for instance and that it is why you feel entitled to belittle her, then you must be very sensitive people and I deeply pity you. It’s disappointing that “live and let live” is not in your vocabulary yet and might never be part of it.

Sailor Moon News is a very nice place with very nice people. But your trolling, gals, is deteriorating the good atmosphere. Stephanie’s been commenting for years here and it’s only when you decided to disrespect her (because putting people down is a good boost for one’s desperate empty ego, isn’t it ;) ?) that the good vibes here began to dissipate.

Call me a woke or a snowflake if you want, I’m way beyond that and it will make me laugh ;) . I simply cannot tolerate harrassment of any kind and I think it is cowardice to make as if nothing had happened on SMN recently.

    • Yeah, as soon as I saw the name with no avatar I realized it was one of those lazy trolls. Pretty sad attempt at trolling, though.
      Glad you noticed too.
And no, that doesn’t make you woke or a snowflake, haha!

      • Ok Adam, thank you :) !

Also, I do sincerely apologize for losing my temper on last Monday in my long comment above. While I still think that no one deserves to be bullied for expressing their opinions, especially when they are harmless, and that it is important to point the issue out, I admit that I didn’t do it correctly. I wasn’t able to stay firm and neutral and unbeknownst to me, I fell in the trap of getting emotionnally engaged, and herein lies my mistake. Some parts of my post were not appropriate at all, and because of them being unnecessarily rude, I became a part of what I was denouncing and condemning, i.e., a part of Internet’s toxicity and negative behaviour. I’m sorry for that. It taught me at least a good lesson.
So, my sincere apologies to you and Stephanie as well (I hope I did not hurt her in any way), and also to the people that were shaming her. Their behaviour is certainly bad and should be stopped, but I had the same behaviour as them by attacking them in my comment, which I regret. And it’s a mistake. Again, I should have stayed composed and neutral.

          • Y’all need to be less Star Serious Laser and more Star Gentle Uterus to one another.

Wow these comments are not nesting properly.

          • Likewise! I felt like I didn’t know enough of the situation to properly say anything about it, but I also know what it’s like to stand up against bullying/harassment/abuse/mistreatment, even if I’m, to use a phrase, seeing red while defending. Speaking for myself, we’re good. :D

          • I think the majority of the time we all have good intentions on here, even when our sense of humor gets out of control.
But pretending to be someone else is pretty rude and could be hurtful.
I wonder if it’s the same copycat account?

Anyway, let’s just throw our balls in the air like we just don’t care and enjoy the site!
