The latest English dubbed episode of Sailor Moon Crystal is now available on Hulu and Neon Alley. This week is Act 22, Hidden Agenda – Nemesis. Black Lady is still not really here. She’s semi visible, mostly obscured in a kind of mist. The technique used for this was changed slightly between the streaming release and the DVD/Blu-Ray version which is what we’re getting for these English versions. This screenshot is, lazily, from the original streaming version.
Act 21 and 22 of Sailor Moon Crystal are based on the equivalent chapters of the newest version of the manga, but these were actually originally a single chapter, though it was a long one. This makes gives this and the last episode an odd pace, which is why Chibiusa’s transformation into Black Lady is teased out over such a long time that it seems like a powered up attack from Dragonball Z or maybe Ryu’s multi episode Hadouken from Street Fighter II V.
Next week on Act 23, Covert Maneuvers – Wiseman, we will get a proper look at Black Lady.

Chibiusa turned evil and took Tuxedo Mask away from Usagi!
They still don’t explain well why all those corpses in the Dark Space reacted to Sailor Moon’s light (I assume it’s their souls gravitating towards the only relief they’ve had in years), or how Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter know about Neo-Queen Serenity despite being in an underground pit for several episodes (I’m going with some sort of shared telepathy between the Sailor Guardians).
But it is explained when Saphir talks about how evil and chaos are drawn to Usagi’s Silver Crystal and Usagi starts thinking everything that happens is her fault.
But it’s not her fault.
Everything is her fault. Especially Rei trusting men.
And I’m telling you, it’s not her fault.
Nope, it’s all her fault. Every bit of it. The Vietnam war was also Usagi’s fault.
If they expand the story where there is not enough material to work with, it probably would be good, but they tend to just add odd frames to fill up the lack of material.
Just imagine if the season 3 animation team worked on this. It would really be a feast on the eyes but then past is past.
has anyone else noticed how mars doesn’t have the pendant on her skirt since after the start of the show or how Jupiter lost her rose skirt piece since after the first time she transformed? im going off that they just forgot especially since in the manga they keep it all the way until they get there super transformations
