Funko has announced some of their 80s and 90s themed Pop! Vinyl exclusives for New York Comic Con and they include Sailor Venus’s alter ego Sailor V! The convention will take place in Manhattan at the Javits Center the weekend of October 5th to the 8th. This is great news for those that have done the full physical, psych evaluation and DNA testing required to get the NYCC Fan Verification™®© status required to attend the event.
So what’s involved in getting an exclusive Funko Pop! Vinyl at New York Comic Con? You just walk up to a booth and buy one, right? In past years Funko has run a lottery ahead of the convention for time slots where attendees can buy things from their booth. It seems that this is the case this year as well. The Funko Twitter account pointed fans to the NYCC Lottery page where they can go into lotteries for certain events. I don’t have a Fan Verified™®© account but it seems like the Sailor V Funko Pop! Vinyl should be showing up there.
Funko made a video showcasing their 80s and 90s themed Pop! Vinyls including Sailor V. Check it out below.
Funko Pop! Vinyls are an overly simple cheap and fairly ugly line of nearly identical looking figures covering pretty much every franchise to ever exist in the history of time. Their business model seems to be to make toys based on as many brands as possible and it’s going quite well for them. They can be found at pretty much every booth at every comic, anime, gaming or pop culture convention as well as on most of the shelf space at GameStop, a novelty toy store that used to sell video games. All said I sure would like to get my hands on one of these figures but unfortunately I have no plans to attend New York Comic Con. Will any of you be lucky enough to be attending?
Keep reading for more images of this figure and the box.
Oh the shade directed at Funko and GameStop! Lol. Love your page. I’ve been a Sailor Moon fan for over 20 years (still in my 20’s too!) and I check your page (mainly for Sailor Moon Crystal news) twice daily.
I have his p[age saved in my bookmarks and it takes like four clicks to even get through all my sub-folders to get to it. Yet I find myself here multiple times a day because my hand moves automatically through the process. I can open this page with my eyes closed. I have a problem.
Someone help me.
It makes me kind of sad. I have worked at GS for years and it really is being taken over by Pops…It went from a hand full on a shelf to nearly half the store being devoted to them and their even uglier kin, the Dorbz.
But as much as I hate on Pops, I’d also love to get this one, hopefully she shows up later.
I’m also buying the soon to be released Outer Senshi and Chibi-Usa. I had said I’d never fall into the madness that is these ugly figures yet here I am with a shelf at home dedicated to the Sailor Moon ones.
I know. I don’t like the way they look but I had two on my desk at work for the longest time! I can’t exactly put a Figuarts on my desk and have it fall apart!
Anyway I dig at GS but I still shop there. I bought Metroid there yesterday (they’re called EB Games in Canada). I’d rather buy games from a game store or Toys R Us than Walmart.
It’s okay, I pick at GS too. If you can’t make fun of where you work you probably take things too seriously, I think.
I’d love to be able to place the Figuarts on my desk, but they are super fragile, especially considering they are premium figures.
I have the five Sailor Moon Figuarts Start Zero at home. They were on a shelf until I accidentally caught Sailor Mars with the wire of my headphone and broke her (of course, she fell on the ground). So I bought a new one and had to put them all in a furniture with glass doors, that I had to buy too when I saw the shelf was the worst idea I ever had… Conclusion of the story: don’t do the same at home, kids! As for the Funko Pop figures, they are ugly and look dumb XD .
1. Sailor Moon: Sailor Mars got kicked in the stomach by Eudial. Serves her right for being mean to me.
2. The first episode of Season 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal is being released 9/28/17.
I have a Sailor Moon Funko Pop doll.
This is honestly the first Funko Pop figure I wasn’t totally repulsed by. “Oh, she doesn’t have the creepy same-for-every-figure pair of eyes!” Hm, curious.
Okay, so not every figure has the “same” pair of eyes. But the majority of them do!
