I have decided to rewatch the live action Sailor Moon series commonly referred to as PGSM or Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Since there hasn’t been much going on with this site lately it seemed like a good opportunity to do some episode reviews as I watch them. I always enjoyed doing episodes summaries for Sailor Moon Crystal and for the original Sailor Moon anime episodes as they were released on Hulu. To categorize these as reviews or even summaries doesn’t seem totally accurate as I’ll neither be giving any sort of rating on the episode or giving anything resembling a coherent summary of events but instead I’ll discuss some of the content as I find it relevant as I’ve done with the other series.

While the show was relatively popular amongst fans it seems like some of you have never actually watched it! Might I suggest that this would be a good time to get caught up? Old or new fans interested in watching the series for the first time or rewatching it like myself can download episodes from either TV-Nihon or Miss Dream. TV-Nihon originally fan subbed the series as it was released on TV back in 2003-2004. They are a group that primarily subtitles Sentai series such as Power Rangers, which the live action Sailor Moon series has some things in common with. Miss Dream on the other hand is a Sailor Moon fan subbing group with more experience with the anime, musicals and manga. Both have authored their releases from DVD source material so you won’t have to deal with those annoying time stamps that came with the TV broadcast version of the show.

I know I’ve earned myself a bit of a reputation as a cynic for some of my critical or mocking comments about the series so let me assure you that I absolutely adore this series. As Sailor Moon goes I think it rivals only the first season of the original anime in quality. It has great character drama and a lot of original elements unique to this series. Fans who have passed on this show for being too cheap looking should really give it a shot!

If you’re watching along at home, remember the series from a while back or are just curious as to what this series was about, feel free to join the community in the comments of these blog posts to discuss the episodes. I don’t anticipate have any fixed schedule for posting these and haven’t really settled on a format, but I’m leaning towards two episodes per post. I’m at the whim of a 5 month old’s naps at this stage in my life so as always the content will be there when it’s there!

You can now keep up with your favourite Sailor Moon site on Instagram. News updates to the site have long since been shared to Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and tumblr and we’re happy to share that you can now follow us on Instagram by following the user sailormoonnews.

I hesitated to set up an Instagram account for the site years ago because the platform is so fundamentally different than others and I was unable to share actual post links to it. After chatting with a friend, the admin of the very popular Sailor Moon Screen Caps account, about her success she suggested that I needed to set up an Instagram account for the site! I did this about a week ago and the account has already been quite successful, surpassing the number of followers to my personal account in about a day. Could people care that much more about Sailor Moon than they do my cats? Expect to see slightly different kinds of posts to my Instagram account than you would see elsewhere, just because it’s more about photos than actual links. Most updates will relate to new posts to the site but I will occasionally share photos of stuff I see that don’t necessarily warrant a full blog post.

As always the links to all social networking accounts can be found on the sidebar on the left of the main page. I try to keep up with all of them though this isn’t always convenient. Twitter is always updated with new posts because it’s automatic. Facebook, Google Plus and tumblr are updated manually, though Facebook gets the priority as it seems reach more people. If you’re still wondering what the best social networking service to follow the site on, you just have to follow us on all of them!

We here at Sailor Moon News have been working hard to weeks in getting the site ready for launch and we’re happy to finally share it with the world. For years I’ve wanted to do a Sailor Moon news site but with so little going on it was to hard to justify. After last month’s announcement of a new Sailor Moon series I immediately knew it was finally time to do this! We want SailorMoonNews.com to be your source of all kinds of Sailor Moon News from the new 2013 anime series to anything related to the old manga, anime, live action series and merchandise related to all of these.

In anticipation for the site’s launch we’ve migrated some relevant posts from our parent site Powet.tv and we’ve also written some new stuff as we get things ready. We’re hoping this gives you a good idea of the kind of site we hope this will become as news of the new TV series becomes more frequent and we do our best to share it all with you. There’s been pretty much no news about the show since the original announcement but we’re as anxious as you for this to change.

Just who are we? The site will be maintained up and updated by Captain Genius and myself, Adam Gardner. We’re both fans of Sailor Moon from back in the day looking forward to see the franchise have some new life breathed into it.
