I reread it too after I wrote that. It's very subtle! Either I glossed over that when reading the Mixx version or they left it out.

As for the baby, maybe it isn't even developed enough to be affected? Maybe Himeko just got pregnant after that 'makeout' session with Kakeru, but she can 'sense' it anyway, like how Usagi could tell she was pregnant with Chibi-Usa at the end of Stars, despite the fact that she'd just slept with Mamoru the night before.

IDK, how is babby formed?/Sailor Moon biology logic.

As with many things, Takeuchi wasn't planning a lot of details long term (like what the senshi look like in the future vs how they progress in the present) so Luna gaining a human form here that she was later revealed to always have in the Stars arc is a bit strange.

But a way to think of some consistency is that in the manga, Chibimoon states that Sailor Moon can use the power of the Silver Crystal and the Moon Chalice together to make this miracle happen. So in some regard, Chibimoon would know more about the kinds of "miracles" the Silver Crystal can perform, as she mentions this in the Black Moon arc. So in the manga, it's sort of implied that it's the power of both that can make this happen.

Later, Luna, Artemis, and Diana "gain" human forms in the Dream Arc, and it's implied to be tied to maturity and power/energy. Venus can't get stronger because her partner Artemis isn't stronger. But once he gains power from their bond, he gains his human form and Venus also feels the power she needs to transform. The same happens with Phobos and Deimos.

Later, when the senshi all aggregate their power for Eternal Sailor Moon and she and Endymion join hands, the cats reappear with their human forms. Kakyuu later states that this moment produced a large wave of energy throughout spacetime, so you can again attribute this to them reaching a new level of power to be able to transform into their human forms (which they proceed to do relatively easily in the Stars arc when they fight Tin Nyanko).

So if you imagine that Luna needed the energy of the Silver Crystal and Moon Chalice early on, then was raised to a higher level with everyone else during the "coronation" moment in Dream, it can be a bit more consistent.

Of course, you could argue that the reality that both Mau and Coronis allegedly have humanoid populations throws the power theory out the window. Why would the cats and crows lose their ability to become human once they left, or why would they keep it a secret when a human form would have been useful to them throughout the series. XD

The thing about Kaguya being expelled by a bright light is a reference to Queen Serenity guarding the earth back during the era of Silver Millennium. In the manga, she says she was repelled by a light surrounding the planet, and in the anime, she says she was bounced back by a silver light, the same one she encounters with Sailor Moon. Queen Serenity protected the Earth back then, so Sailor Moon is finishing her mother's work.

Wait... So Luna is played by a human actress the whole time while in "cat form", but then they... switch to a different, older actress entirely? That makes no sense.

I'm really disappointed to hear about Artemis getting the shaft in all this. That was a big part of the story, the drama and tension as Artemis realizes Luna is falling for someone else, and a human at that. Strange, they seem to play with the idea that Chibi-Usa could disappear if Usagi and Mamoru don't end up together, but not that something similar might happen to Diana if Luna and Artemis don't get together?

And Himeko was pregnant in the manga? I don't remember that.

Yeah, the idea of making a wish for Luna to be human made zero sense when we find out that the cats have human(oid) forms already. Naoko was really just thinking on the fly so much, there are a million inconsistencies and continuity errors.

In any case, musicals don't interest me much and I'm disappointed about Artemis getting ignored, so I think I'll ignore this musical too. If I want to revisit the story, I'll just watch the original movie or read the manga.
