One thing that people often mistaken in fiction of a black hole is that it sucks in things, like a vacuum. Really, it's just a strong gravitational pull (like our sun, but 1bil x stronger), so if an object is moving fast enough, it could escape the pull or (like our sun), just rotate around it.

Basically, for all the reasons you've already covered, I would say comparing the Galaxy Cauldron to a black hole is not the best match. It's almost more like a static Big Bang to me. Obviously such a thing couldn't exist in reality, but because this is Sailor Moon "It's magic" is really the only explanation needed.

That said, maybe it could be like some sort of weird magic Black Hole/Big Bang combined. Matter goes in, gets broken down (or, I think the word "melted" might've been used in the manga) and then is "reborn" as star energy, eventually forming things like celestial bodies (stars, planets, asteroids) and the accompanying Sailor Crystals that go along with those celestial bodies which get assigned guardian Sailor Senshi. It's almost like a magic space metaphor for samsara, since Sailor Moon borrows bits and pieces of both Buddhist and Christian philosophy/teachings.

Looks like they dropped some tidbits about the new movie, again. It's practically nothing, but the character designer/animation director for Crystal mentioned they are happy to be working on the Dead Moon movie.
They also mentioned that they were glad to have worked on Sailor Moon at the beginning and here at the end. I hope that doesn't mean they've decided against Stars and is more in line with she will be directing all the way through till the end.

I just want to hear actual announcements from Toei. But at least it seems the film is alive in some form.
