Speaking of ice skating, I recently did some research on ice skating for a short story I plan to write in the future (and yes, I did rewatch part of the episode where they visit an ice rink in Season 1). Apparently in an actual competition, Ms. Medvedeva (God, I hope I didn’t butcher that) wouldn’t be able to do a routine like that, because most competitions favor instrumental or choral pieces, rather than anything involving pop or anime culture. There’s indications that this attitude is softening a bit, but for the moment, anime tributes like this are reserved to less formal displays.
