This is a really puzzling comment. The song played during the climactic scene was in fact Moon Revenge, the theme song of the film and not Moonlight Densetsu, the theme song of the series proper. This is the only time Moon Revenge is played during the entirety of Sailor Moon They’re clearly different songs.
Additionally, all references to the perceived sexual nature of Fiore and Mamoru’s relationship I can confirm were lifted straight from the Japanese script with no editorializing of any kind.

This is a common misconception. Actually, the film was composed open matte. That means it was framed specifically for the 16:9 theatrical presentation, but was animated outside of that barrier for a 4:3 home video release. As evidenced by a few animation mistakes not visible in the 16:9 framing, many fans are of the belief that this was a hasty effort, and Toei’s recent burying of the 4:3 masters seems to imply they’re not too proud of it and that they’re in agreement with fans in considering the 16:9 framing definitive.

The best part was hearing a grown man have to say the line, ‘He threw a flower at me..!” The theater I was at burst out in laughter! My friends and I were hysterical for the rest of the night. I really want Viz to show the Super Movie this Christmas. That’s my Christmas wish!

I went to see it to and ya I think the first dub version was about the same or a little better . I think they should never have pert jokes in at serious moments and through the movie they kept trying to make mamo and his friend out to be gay but no they were just friends nothing more but the part of the movie I really really got disappointed at was my favorite part in the end when sailor Moon terns in to the princess and use’s the crystal to save everyone i through the music they used for that part was the opening song from the show they just keep over using that song I love it yes but it did not fit with the moment and its the movie u should use a song that’s not herd that much in the show . I thought the music from the first dub was perfect I loved it the song was part of the reason y that part was my favorite and at that part to were the Guardians one by one said her name well they should of did what the first dub did one or to of them said her name then one of them called her princess in stead of saying her name cuz u know she was wearing the dress and all .the other just said we r with u . I know it meat be stupid to complain about this but I just think even these little things can make the movie that much better and who knows if enough fans feel the same way I do then maybe its not to late we can send a message to the people who r making the movie and ask them to change a few things . pass it on if you agree with me <3

That’s a first considering that most of the fans hate the DiC dub for what it’s worth. Then again the fanbase is badly divided since many of the DiC fans loathe the Cloverway dub. Personal tastes I guess.

The DiC score at least was much better than the crap 4Kids invented for their Pokémon dub, and yet they had the original music and chose not to use them after the 3rd film. See the difference there?

sailor moon is about keeping an open mind. I also like the new dub for what its worse. also the DIC score is trash. alot of people refuse to even associate sailor moon without DIC thats awful. not really a sailor moon fan if people swear off every version except DIC

first off i saw January 18 in IL. the picture looked great but guess what? its a cropped presentation. Toei cropped it after the laser Disc version of this film. the only way to see it non cropped is the Promise of the Rose DIC/Pioneer Uncut release. super dissapointed…

Nope, I’m not kidding. It was my first time listening to the Viz dub, Stephanie Sheh sounded like she drowned her vocal cords in liquid helium prior to voicing Usagi. Tracey Moore, Terri Hawks did a much better job in my opinion. The Japanese voicing is far much more superior though

Not interested in watching it. The Pioneer version (in this case, the edited VHS dub) will always be THE R movie for me. I hated the old extended dub because the DiC score wasn’t there, and the deleted scenes weren’t enough reason for me to favor it.
