People give Mamoru a hard time but I think some fans have a tendency to overlook how troubling it is that Seiya kept flirting with Usagi even after she keeps saying no.

I was never really into the whole relationship. I think I would need to rewatch Stars and think of it from the point of view of Seiya though. I always watched it thinking more about Usagi’s feelings and she just never seemed into him. With Mamoru being dead the whole time I could just never think of Usagi with anyone else at the time.

Seiya was a good person but I think she would have been toxic for Usagi. Mamoru might seem dull and boring but he keeps Usagi grounded and is what helps her mature whereas she keeps him from becoming too stoic and brings light and happiness into his life.

It’s the same reason Ami/Mamoru would not work, their love would die without the passion. Seiya x Usagi has too much passion to work.

I love Usagi and Seiya. They seemed to have way more chemistry than Usagi and Mamoru ever had. They had fun together, whereas Mamoru was boring as heck.
