Ail and An are great characters who are deeply devoted to each other but also are exposing themselves to others for the first time in years (I maintain they went undercover among their food source to get to know their enemy better). That leads to all sorts of realizations, including that they can be attracted to people other than each other. It was fun to see them in this tug and pull between each other and their emerging feelings.

I also enjoyed episode 59 because of it shows Usagi and Mamoru really re-fall in love with each other. We’re never sure why those two fell in love beyond their past-life feelings for each other, but here we see Usagi fight hard to protect the man she loves and Mamoru is touched by that enough to return the favor. If you ever want an idea of why they fell for each other, this episode is the one to showcase.
